And he woke up...
"Finally, youre awake." Jeremy said.
"Oh, damn..." Bruce said as he wipes his sweat off his face. "How long was i out?"
"Just 15 minutes. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, it felt like a day." He took a deep breath and exhaled. "Im gonna go okay?"
"Sure, we'll finish up here. Take care." Jeremy said.
Bruce checked his phone as he got out of the restaurant. There was no sign of any notification on his phone. He entered his car, started it up and drove.
He got to his house and lights were on inside. He opened the door and he said "I'm home..."
There were sounds of steps being taken and his two dogs came out from the side and approached him. Bruce pets them both. "Hey Natasha, Danny,.... How was your day?"
The dogs just went about their way to the living room as Bruce removes his footware. He stopped in front of the room and sees everything. Images of the family weren't there. The awards on the wall were nowhere to be seen. The only pictures available were that of him and his friends. Bruce sighed.
He went to the kitchen and imagined his wife cooking "hey dear." He said to himself and the image of the woman disappeared from his mind. All that remains was an empty kitchen that was barely lit. He went to the fridge to get some water. After drinking he holds an empty glass and exits the kitchen.
Upon exiting, he saw himself with the two kids sitting on the sofa, discussing happily together. As he approaches the sofa, the imagination begins to fade. The two dogs were lying on the sofa, looking at him. Bruce laid back and said. "You guys remember when i told the story of how your mom and i ended up together?" He smiled fakingly.
There was no reply from either of the dogs.
"It didnt exactly went that way." Bruce frowned. "Remember when i told you your mom wanted a time out? Well the decision was really not how i told you. She said "lets stop this"" there was silence and Bruce smiled but on a sad note. "I said everything i wanted, everything i couldve said to make her change her mind. I loved her soo much i didnt want to let her go that easily..." Bruce slouched and tears were beginning to form in his eyes. "She said it wasnt time, she wasnt ready, and that if time permits it, we'll be together someday..." Bruce stood up and grabbed the glass. He walked to the whiskey in his glass case.
"And so i waited for her, i said i would, things went on about the normal way... She wasnt the same as before..." He opened the whiskey and poured some in his glass, then closed it again and brought it back to its case. He then sits back with the glass in his hand, swirling it around.
"I waited... We kept communication, we were friends and it felt like she was slowly drifting away from me." He looked at the dogs. "Weeks turn into months, and then years and then... I still love her..." There was almost no sound being made across the room. "She's engaged, and im here still loving her... It was my choice to wait... I waited... I waited.." He sniffed and tears went out. "The thing is.. Kids... Sometimes.. When you wait... Its the most painful thing because you dont know if it will come or not... You wont know if youre really waiting or just wasting your time. And the life i imagined... You guys.. Family... Love..." His voice was constantly shaking. "None of that happened." He looked at his side to imagine his children looking at him. "You guys never existed." And the image began to fade. He let the tears drop from his face and his cries echoed throughout the house.
He raises his glass, and said "i never really drank before like this... To love and patience.... I still love you, Kaitlyn."
End.
