It was after dinner service at a restaurant, it was time to close up. The restaurant staff started cleaning up, front and back of the house. The manager entered the kitchen.
"Everybody!" He shouted "good job for today, the critic looks more than pleased with his food and I thank you all for that. Couldnt have done it without you guys and of course people from the front."
Everybody clapped and patted the manager on the back.
"Jeremy," the manager said. "Is there anything i can do to help over here?"
"No sir, everything is okay, dont worry" Jeremy assured.
"You sure? I can-" the manager reached out his hand
Jeremy slapped the hand "No! You did as much work as we did Sir Bruce" he laughed. "The least you could do is rest for a while in your office and let us finish things up, it might take a while though since this is a big set up."
"Oh okay, if you say so" Bruce said. "But if you need me,"
"I'll call ya! Now go take a breather" Jeremy gestured away.
Bruce got to his office and sat in his comfortable chair. His table was full of done paperwork and files. He took a heavy breath. He twist his head side to side that seemed to relieve his stress. Then someone knocked on the door.
"Come in." Bruce said
A woman came in, in a chef's uniform "Good evening sir, pardon me for the intrusion"
"Nah its fine." Bruce smiled , "now, what does the executive chef need?"
"About the menu for tomorrow sir," she said.
"Ah, yes. It's right-" Bruce looked in his drawers, but what he was looking for was nowhere to be found. "Uhm, i think i left it at home.. Is it possible for you to get it after closing? Youve been there before right?"
"Yes, of course sir." She said.
"I'll be there dont worry, and someone's been missing you, Natalie, since you last came" Bruce smiled.
"Oh how is she?" Natalie asked with a smile.
"She's fine, very energetic, she's going to be happy when she sees you again."
"And her brother? How is he?" She asked
"He's fine as well, not much of a hyper type though, but he gets along just fine. So, you coming?"
"Of course sir, its a big day tomorrow, so i need that menu."
"Ah yes, sure." Bruce ended.
"Thank you sir, i'll see you later then." Natalie bode.
As the door closes, Bruce leaned on his chair and gave a big sigh. He closed his eyes and everything went dark. Bruce fell asleep for a while, until the phone on his table rang. He woke up.
"Huh? What?" He said, looking surprised. He looked at the phone and it had a message that said: what time are you coming home? J I put leftovers on the fridge. I miss you. It was from a contact named "Wife"
"It's almost 10, i gotta get home." Bruce said. He picked up his stuff and exited the office.
"Family missing you already sir?" Jeremy asked.
"Yeah" Bruce laughed. "Well i'll be going now. You guys take care okay? Lock up for me"
