Chapter 1

Sophia's Point of view

"Sophia! I finally get to see your beautiful face!" Aiden shouts through Skype. His green eyes look really tired and his dark hair is messy. He gives me that wonderful grin of his and it makes me smile.

"Aiden! I miss you so much!" I say as I tuck a dark strand of hair behind my ear.

"Awe I miss you babe. It's so hard not being able to talk to you every day." He says in his army uniform. He has been stationed in Afghanistan for four months now, and it's been really tough on the both of us. After nursing school, I stay up until 3am waiting for his Skype call. For him, he has to come back from combat or combat training to call me. At this point we are both exhausted. He runs a hand through his hair, "How's nursing school coming along?"

I sigh, "Oh you know, rough, lots of tests and observation hours."

He moves closer to the screen and says, "Soph, don't worry you'll get through it. I can't wait to see you at your graduation and hold you again."

"I can't wait to see you, and give you the biggest hug ever." I reply.

"Do I get anything else?" He asks sarcastically.

I giggle, "Maybe..." I put my knees up to my chest and hug them; my apartment feels very empty without Aiden.

I notice a guy staring at us from the background. I whisper, "Who's that guy? He's been staring at us."

Aiden looks behind him and whispers, "Oh that's Ben, he's been a little off lately."

Ben stares at us and it gives me the chills. I hug my knees tighter and pull a cardigan over my t-shirt.

"He's a bit creepy." I reply.

"He's a pretty nice guy once you get to know him, don't worry." Aiden says as he glances at his watch, "I got to go Sophia, I love you."

I exhale, "Love you too! Talk to you soon."

The screen goes black. I walk over to my bed and bend over to pull out an old shoebox. Inside it are pictures of Aiden and me from our first date, tickets to our fist baseball game together, more pictures of us together, and a rose I saved when he asked me to first move in with him. Tears sting my eyes at the memories of us flooding back to me.

I pull up in my little yellow Volkswagen to a farmhouse with a red barn. This place is beautiful! As I pull up, I see Aiden dressed in a blue and black plaid shirt and jeans that hug his hips quite nicely might I add. I park in the dirt driveway and he opens my car door giving me that sexy grin.

"So this is where you live? It's absolutely beautiful!" I say, smiling nervously.

He looks at me and I mean really looks. Suddenly, I feel self- conscious in my white dress and cowboy boots. He steps closer and pushes a strand of my dark hair behind my ear.

"You look beautiful. Follow me; I want you to meet my mom."

He grabs my hand and I follow him inside the farmhouse. Inside is beautiful, very rustic looking right as I walk inside. The walls I notice are a light green color, I look to the right and I see a family room, there are two old couches and a small TV with a stand, there's a small coffee table in front of the bigger couch and a fireplace right next to the other couch. We walk to the left and he leads me to the kitchen where I see a woman with light brown hair standing by the oven.
