Chapter 4 : Falling Out

Pons have never felt the impulse to punch someone in the face so bad in his life until today… seeing Troy making out in the gym with another girl and seeing how it hurt Yen inspired in him an anger he never expected he'd feel towards his best friend Troy… He even had the gall to blame it all on Yen… he wanted to lash at Troy and punch the daylights out of him… all these years he thought he knew Troy… yes, he could be naughty at times but he never expected him to be this cruel and deceitful at the same time… 

Pons had no idea how he managed to take Yen home without killing Troy first… it was already dark and after explaining to Yen’s Mom why they came in late and why her little girl is so upset and crying, he went home himself but couldn’t sleep… he tried to call Troy wanting to have some serious man to ma talk if not friend to another friend… Pons realized what happened earlier bothered him more than he expected… when Troy answered his phone his speech was a bit slurred and Pons could only guess that he had some drinks with his teammates…

“O, I am surprised you still have my number bestfriend… miss me already? Hahah”

“Troy… I… about this afternoon… Yen was really hurt …”

“I know… I’m not stupid Pons… you may be the one with the bigger brain here but I am not dumb… I made a mistake… And you need not rub it in my face because believe me I know okaaaay? And you have no right to take her away from me Pons… ”

Troy is obviously too pissed and too drunk to understand what Pons wanted to say… that’s why he decided not to waste his time…

“Ok Troy, we’ll talk another time… just… we’ll just leave things be for the meantime…”

Unlike what he made Pons to believe, he’s not that drunk, he’s had a few bottle of beer but the things that happened this afternoon are still fresh and crystal clear in his mind…

He knew he broke Yen’s heart… it was a wrong move, giving in to Lizzy knowing it was wrong… still he gave in…  he started seeing Lizzy six months ago, that’s also when he started lying to Yen… at the beginning, seeing Lizzy felt good, she’s everything Yen is not… there’s no boundaries with Lizzy  and he felt a certain freedom… he couldn’t even take Yen out on a date, she’s not allowed, he couldn’t kiss her, she made him promise to wait…

Troy knew it was wrong to blame Yen but he felt then that he’s losing out on a lot of things and Lizzy provided everything that he couldn’t have with Yen… but deep inside he knew he still loves Yen and couldn’t bear the thought of losing her…  specially when he knew how his bestfriend Pons really felt about Yen… Pons will never admit it to his face but he knew him well enough to know that Pons is in love with Yen and what’s more frightening these past few months is the way Yen’s affection is developing  towards Pons, and it’s all his fault he gave Yen the opportunity to depend on Pons, and his neglect allowed Pons the opportunity to care for Yen…

If he’s decent enough he should let them be free… if he’s the kind of  friend as Pons was to him  these past years He would set Yen free and let Pons claim her for his own… because he knew deep inside how Pons sacrificed and hid his affections for Yen because he told him that he’s in love with Yen, Pons gave way because he’s that kind of friend… but Troy knew he couldn’t be like him… and it tears him up inside but he couldn’t let it go, he couldn’t let them be… because he’s Troy Alvarez , he always gets what he wants and keep what he wanted to keep and nobody could take anything from him.

Monday came not soon enough… Troy asked one of his juniors in the team to buy a bouquet of flowers for him, he made a plan, he’s going to beg forgiveness from Yen in front of their classmates that way Yen wouldn’t be able to say no and also to show Pons his intent to win back Yen’s affection… he timed everything perfectly right after the exam  after the Homeroom Teacher went out just before the bell rang and their classmates are still seated in their chairs,  he kneeled in front of Yen who’s then collecting her things and…

“Yen, please forgive me… I couldn’t live without you…” He could see the surprise in Yen’s expressive eyes but it didn’t last long and it changed into a look of disgust… she smirked and replied…

“I never did like your penchant for theatrics Troy… but guess what? I don’t care and you can go dump your flowers to the trash can on your way out…” and then he saw her glance where Pons is seated and saw the smirk in her face changed into a soft expression he couldn’t identify which made him look to where Pons is seated and saw him smiled awkwardly at Yen… Yen snatched her bag from the desk and left him still kneeling… something he didn’t expected from Yen… he stood up hurriedly and followed her to where Pons is waiting but Yen dragged Pons by the arm and left him standing looking at their back with his mouth open… he didn’t know how long he was standing there after they’re gone until a classmate tapped him on the shoulder…

“You really pissed her seriously this time Troy…” It was Andrew their homeroom Vice-President, Pons of course is the President and it was reason enough for Andrew who’s  been trying to overtake Pons in every way be it academics or extra curricular he'd grab it... and today he smelled an opportunity to spoil something  for  Pons , his friendship with Troy...

 “Is there something I can do to help?” he offered Troy

“It’s ok Andy, Yen will come to her senses eventually…”

“I heard she caught you with Lizzy?”

“Yeah yeah don ‘t remind me I remember…”

“And there’s Pons… did you two have a falling out or something? He seems to be spending more time with Yen than you do…”

“My fault… I gave him the opportunity but I’m taking back what’s mine…”

“What if it’s too late Troy?”

“Are you deliberately pissing me off Andrew?”

“Sorry Troy just stating what’s obvious you know…looks like Yen turned our school genius into a Romeo… anyway, you’re Troy Alvarez and there are plenty of girls out there who’d gladly take Yen’s place so why bother  when it’s too late huh?”

And when Andrew left, Troy asked the same question himself… “What if it's too late?”

Andrew muddled his head and Troy knew it was really his intention knowing how much the guy hates Pons… and honestly right this very moment he could swear he’s also beginning to hate Pons.

***Scary much... this guy,  TROY I think he's contemplating some bad things against PONS!!!
