To Be With You

Chapter 5 : Smile for me, don't cry...

~Pons~

“You okay?” Pons asked Yen  when they reached the gate of Yen’s house

“Yeah why wouldn’t I be okay? Aren’t you  coming in?”  she asked…

Yen’s Mom prepared some snacks when she saw Pons with her daughter and excused herself because she has an appointment that afternoon… 

Things are awfully quiet around the house, Manang Elsie, the helper is upstairs watching her afternoon drama on television… and Pons couldn’t bear the silence anymore and  

“Aren’t you going to give Troy a chance to explain himself?”

“Already did last Saturday right? You were there you heard the things he said and you saw what he tried to do, that dumbass…”

“Hey, no cussing okay? “ Pons warned…                  

“Why not?  I am too boring as it is, I don’t cuss, I don’t kiss, I don’t date, I don’t  go around snatching some stupid girl’s boyfriend…  that’s probably why Troy wanted to date Lizzy in the first place, she’s got a very interesting lifestyle… right?”  There’s a sharp bitterness in Yen’s words and it bothered Pons.

~Yen~

“Yen, you’re not the one who’s at fault here… you are different from Lizzy alright and it definitely doesn’t mean she’s better than you are… there’s no comparison at all… If it were me, I wouldn’t even give Lizzy a second glance…” Pons tried to comfort her...

“But she’s beautiful…”

“You are beautiful Yen…”

“She’s got the perfect body…”

“There’s nothing wrong with your body… err, as far as I can see…no…”

“She makes herself available and she knows how to play with boys…”

“Lizzy is a slut…” Pons announced quite vehemently which surprised Yen, in fact Pons even surprised himself…

“Oh my… did I hear it right Pons? You called some girl a slut? You called Lizzy a slut? The perfect gentleman, the student body president, the great  Potenciano Enriquez the Third just called some girl a slut? Whew this is an epic moment “

Yen tried to laugh at first but she couldn’t… all that came out was little gulps of something really painful from her heart and she ended up crying instead…

Pons stood from where he’s at and sat beside Yen… he tentatively covered Yen’s hands resting on the table with his own and when Yen felt his hands covering her own she turned to look up at Pons and cried to her heart’s content knowing this guy beside him, the one holding her hands, he understands and he’ll never smirk and make fun of her emotional outburst like Troy usually do… this guy beside her right now, he cares…

Yen have no idea how her head ended up resting on Pons’ broad shoulder and how she’s now comfortably cradled in his arms… they are so close she could feel his every intake of breath… deep breaths for that matter, and she could clearly hear the rapid beating of his heart… or was that her own?  she wanted to step away from his embrace… she do not want him to think she’s overreacting and taking advantage of his kindness but she’d never felt so comfortable as that moment in his arms … she never felt so safe and secured and no matter how she tried she couldn’t lift her head from his shoulder and she couldn’t step away from his embrace… she could only sigh…but she didn’t realized just how audible her sigh was… Pons reacted and

“You ok now?”

That’s it and she had no other choice but to leave the comforts of his arms…

“Y..yes I am… and I’m sorry Pons… I’m such a bother…”

“No you’re not Yen… and it’s okay… what… w..what  are friends for… right?”

“R…right…” Yen acknowledged, but deep inside... her heart begins to wonder if Pons is really  just a friend?

 I was listening to this song while writing the scene when  Pons is holding Yen in his arms, comforting her...
