I heard the music, and I wanted to drown. Never before had such a peculiar feeling overtaken me but at that moment in time when I heard the last few notes to Chopin's Op. 9, No. 2 in E flat major. Andante, I felt like I had died and gone to heaven and missed the opportunity to experience dying in its true form. Instead of harsh cold and agonizing like I had expected dying to feel I was lifted away on a soft melodic piano piece. My mother near me, tears dancing from her eyes to her lips. I wondered how someone could look so sad while hearing something so beautiful, and I remember wanting to kiss the skid marks the tears made on her pale cheeks. The final note of my last lullaby rang out and my eyes despite desperately struggling, struggling to keep open, to wave goodbye to the colorful world I would soon depart, closed. I was gone.
