CHAPTER 18
As I raced down the stairs, I noticed that Taylor had been moved into the lounge room. He was lying on the couch with the two paramedics finalising paper works, Becky, Dad and Dallas. He was conscious and constantly trying to sit up, but one of the paramedics continued to push him back down.
Our eyes met and I raced over to him. He reached out for my hands and I gave them to him before sitting on a space of couch near his abdomen.
"Are you okay?" I asked, lightly brushing my fingertips across a large bruise that was forming on the left of his cheek and eye.
"I'm fine. More than fine now that you're here," he smiled and I leant down to peck his lips.
I noticed someone approach the back of the couch, and he seemed impatient so I looked up to see a smirking grin.
                              "What- "
I was cut off by Chad's annoying voice, "Sorry, mate. I don't know what happened to me back there. I think we got off to a bad start. No hard feelings?" he stretched his arm out to shake Taylor's. My mouth was dropped with shock.
Both Taylor and I were frozen. I couldn't believe the words Chad was saying. Chad pulled his arm away, seeing as Taylor wasn't going to return the gesture. "Obviously not," he muttered.
"Honestly, Chad. What game are you playing here?" Taylor wondered, sitting up, and for once, the paramedics didn't fight him. He wrapped his arms around me and made his position protective.
"I'm not playing any game," Chad said innocently, "I'm only here to be with my girlfriend and child," he grinned and raised an eyebrow suggestively.
"What the hell is wrong with you Chad?" I retorted, "I'm not your girlfriend and there is no way in hell that you're going to be around MY baby when you were so violent to my actual boyfriend. You're nothing to me, so could you just go back to where you came from!"
"Sure think, babe," he said as he walked around the couch so that Taylor couldn't prevent him from kissing me. The nerve of this jerk was impossible to describe; he didn't know when to stop! Taylor pulled my face away before he could do much damage.
"Alright, I've had just about enough of this," Dad said, making me realise that there were more than three people in the room, "Chad, get the hell out of my house! You've already damaged my daughter enough."
"I'm only trying to reverse that damage, Mr. Perstacio. I'm sorry that you see it how you do. Nassy-poo obviously hasn't told you the whole story. But, if it makes you happy, I'll leave, but don't expect me to go away." Chad grinned cruelly before exiting the room. We were all too stumped to reply to him.
The forgotten paramedics interrupted the shocked silence, "Alright, Mr. Elliott, you don't have any damage from what we can see. You may get a concussion, so stay awake until at least 10.00pm to make sure you're safe, and to relieve the pain, just some simple Panadol will do."
"Thanks," he said, composing his face and voice.
"You have a good day now," the other paramedic said, and with that, they collected their kits and left.
Dallas kissed my forehead before leaving with Dad and Becky, as to give Taylor and me some privacy.
As the door closed behind Dallas, Taylor began blurting out apologies. "Nas, I'm so sorry. I should never have invited him here. I was wrong to not listen to you. I'm sorry, and now he's ruined everything." To my shock, he began crying.
"Tay, shh," I spoke as I wiped his tears away. His watering eyes made mine water in response. I hated seeing his so upset, and so vulnerable. He hugged me tighter to him and we both sobbed into each others' shoulder.
