I got home and the house was all dark, I wondered why, seeing as Drake was home. I went to turn on the light; but as I flicked the switch on, nothing happened. Okay what's going on? I walk into the living room to see Drake lounging around in the dark. He hadn't noticed me come in, so ill have some fun! I sneak up to him as quietly as I could before I shouted "Boo!!"."Ahhhh!" Drake screamed as he fell of the chair from fright, "Kat!"
"Sorry, D-Drake I co-couldn't resist!" I state through fits of laughter. "Why's it so dark in here?"
"Black out."
"So you've just been sitting here in the dark then?"
"Well yeah..." He replies "what else was I suppose to do?
"I don't know get a torch, or light some candles?" I suggest, "Anyway I have dinner."
"Oh cool. I guess I'll grab some candles and we can have a romantic candle lit dinner;" he jokes "Oh and dad called, their plane has been delayed, so they don't know when they'll be back. Anyway what's for dinner?"
"Your favourite." I answer putting down our pizza and grabbing two cans of Coke out of the fridge, being sure to do it quickly so it doesn't loose it's coolness.
"Meat lovers pizza?" He screams and I nod "With extra everything?" He asks again,
"Of course! Nothing less for my favorite brother!" I complement giggling. Not that I was lying, I loved him to bits, he's my twin after all, but he is my ONLY brother.
We have our candle lit dinner, and by the time we are finished we are both so tired that we go to bed. Next thing I knew I was woken by a loud beeping, Drake must of put an alarm on my phone! Not knowing where my phone is, I forget about it and fall back to sleep.
I'm woken again by someone lifting me up. It takes a moment or two to register what's going on, and I can hear that same alarm going off but by then I can taste the smoke in the air. Holy Crap, the house is on fire!! The man realizes I'm awake, and helps me up and out of my room, and as we're running to the entrance of my house I see everything I love in flames, and ashes. We get outside and there is two fire trucks, an ambulance, and more fire fighters trying to put out our house. I'm rushed over to the ambulance as they check that I'm okay, but I don't care, I just need to know where Drake is."Drake!" I shout trying to find him amongst the crowd. The ambulance officer and firefighter both look at me. "Where's my brother Drake?" I ask again, getting frantic.
"Was he in the house with you?" The firefighter asks. I just nod. "I'll go get him, everything's going to be fine." And with that he rushes into the burning building again.
I start to look around, and I can see some of my neighbours are up and watching my house burn, there's a news crew or something as well, and their camera is pointed directly at me. I don't even care. Right now all I need is my brother.
A police officer walks over to me... When did the cops get here?!
"Excuse me Ma'am, do you live here?"
"Um yes, yes this is my house."
"And where are your parents Miss?"
"They're out of town. In New Zealand, I don't know when they'll be back, their flight was delayed."
"They left you, a sixteen year old girl, by herself?" The Policeman replied.
"No sir, my brother. He's still inside! They haven't brought him out yet!" I reply trying to keep my composure. I'm too shocked and confused too cry or do anything.
"And do you know how the fire started?" He asks. I think...
"The power was out last night. We had a candlelit dinner... We mustn't have blown them out..." I reply "... I heard an alarm but I just went back to sleep.." Then It clicks what that alarm was, sending my leg limp as I fall to the ground "This is all my fault!" I scream. I see them wheeling Drake into the ambulance and I rush to his side. We're driven to the hospital and I'm made to stay in the waiting room. There's only two thingsrunning through my mind;
