Chapter Eleven: A Gift From The Gods

"Here." Diana hands over a portable box with markings, symbols and patterns engraved onto it. "Are you sure everything's okay, Zatanna?".

"Yes, of course!" Zatanna facades. "Thank you so much for your help." She takes the box off Diana's hands and walks off.

"Umm hold on Zatanna!" Wonder Woman tries to stop her from leaving too soon.

Zatanna stops, she slowly turns around, worried she won't get caught. "Yes?" She chokes out.

"Can you explain to me why the gods wouldn't want me to hand this over to you?" Wonder Woman interrogated. "Why do you need it?"

"The gods said not to trust me?" Zatanna's eyes widened. Zatanna soon saw a loophole through this whole mess. Her plan involved her getting Wonder Woman suspicious so she could take the box off her. Of course Zatanna didn't want to take the box, otherwise she would have no choice but to hand it over to Rumpelstiltskin.

"The god's mentioned your name, but infamously." Wonder Woman walked closer over to Zatanna.

Zatanna took hold of Wonder Woman's arm, desperately. Her face showed a mixture of complete certainty but, it looked like she was about to see death.

"Rump... I have to go now." Zatanna tries to leave once again. She turns around and faces down, disappointed.

"Wait!" Diana calls out once more. This time she hovered beside her and took hold of her shoulders. "Something is wrong, isn't there?"

A voice giggles devilishly somewhere around them.

Both women look around frantically, trying to find the source of the voice.

"Oh no, he's here." Zatanna gasps.

"Who is here?! Zatanna, what is going on?" Wonder Woman glares at Zatanna.

"We must leave!" Zatanna cries out. She takes hold of Diana and prepares a spell. "Etak su ot eht rew..." Her spell was interrupted.

"When will you ever learn. Once we have you, you're ours." Rumpel's figure conjures from a cloud of smoke before them. "Unless of course, you're no longer any use for us." He laughs hysterically.

Rumpel waves his hand around in a pattern, creating symbols with the strings of dark magic that followed it. He materialized a gag that completely coated Zatanna's mouth. Rumpel's magic also summoned a barrier that caged Zatanna and Wonder Woman from where they stood.

"Let us out! Demon." Wonder Woman scolds heroically.

"Ahhh, the famous Wonder Woman." The demon walks over closer to Diana trapped inside a ball of magic. "I get the 'woman' but not the 'wonder'." He taunts and snickers right before the face of Diana. She shrivels from the nasty scent coming out of his mouth.

"Now. Come along dear, we have other matters to attend to." Rumpel snickers. He swings his hands in a circle allowing clouds to surround his position and Zatanna's. Both vanish and allowing the magic trapping Wonder Woman to flee, she was freed.

"Wonder Woman?" Kid Flash concerns. The team still gathered at the highest point of the mountain of the Happy Harbor mountain.

Batman places his hand on his chin. "Wonder Woman does have a connection to the gods of Olympus, similar to Captain Marvel. But why would she pay them a visit, let alone obtain the one object we need from the gods?"

"That would explain why Cassie was at the tower today." Nightwing explained. "She mentioned something about Diana missing out on a day of training."
