A/N: AHHHH! It's done! I'm really really happy about this one! I had a shell of an idea about this one for a bit, but the prompt helped flesh out a lot of the plot.

I wrote this one for a Fantasy_Community  writing contest hence the bolded words :)

Enjoy my new fairytale!

All things are made of stars.

The sea, the earth, the growing fields, the people who walk on land, and the fish who swim and scuttle in the sea. All are stars. One star shines brightly in the day, and many sparkle at night. At night, the sea will glitter with the many stars radiant reflections, and it is also at night that Richelle would surface and whisper to a star.

"How are you?" she would ask. "I hope you are well."

"I am." the starmaid would answer. "thank you and I hope the same for you."

Time passed, and every night, Richelle, her tail a shimmering gradient of cool colors would surface and speak to the starmaid.

Time passed, and as happens with some, they fell in love and Richelle wished to give the starmaid a gift, showing her love.

"My lovely starmaid, is there anything I might give you? Ask of me, and it is yours."

"Yes. I ask that every night when the sun rests and the stars dance in the fabric of the night sky that you will come and speak to me for a time before you go to sleep."

"All of that and more has always been yours my starmaid. What gift may I give you? For I love you more with each passing of the night into day and you are precious to me."

"Anything that I might want, I do not think a mermaid could accomplish, even one as clever and brilliant as you my love."

They continued on in their happiness, enjoying each other's company and learning of each other's lives outside of their time together.

"My lovely starmaid, what do you do during the day when the Sun is above, making the sea shine, and beaming so bright that no other stars can be seen?"

"I am here. Sometimes I sleep, sometimes I ponder what else there is, and sometimes I help to weave the fabric of the sky so that the universe may expand and create. My dear Richelle, what do you do during the night when the moon is above, making the sea sparkle with its soft light so that all the stars above may join it in lighting the sky?"

"I am here. Sometimes I sleep, sometimes I ponder what else there is, and sometimes I help to gather the stones that form the mountains and carve the formations beneath the waves, so that the fish may swim and rest in their tunnels."
