The biggest thing about the location of this track is the bends on the cliff. If you aren't paying close attention, you won't make the biggest turn on the road, and you'll go right off the edge.
Now, in my case, it could've been anything. I could've gotten a cramp, or an eyelash in my eye. My mind might've went off to think about Beth's dead husband, or my dead dad. Hell, it might've even been my drunk of a mother that caught my mind. It could've been anyone of those things.
But it wasn't, I know it wasn't.
I had been giggling, enjoying the thrill I got out of how fast I was going. I glanced to my right, he was watching me. He kept the same speed and stared, taking in every detail I had. Burning my picture into his memory.
His eyes caught mine, and I was gone. So freaking gone.
My mind flashed to some fantasy. We would start talking everyday after the race that I won, of course. Then we would start dating. It would be years of just us. We would've been so happy.
But then, there would be that one big fight. The one that left him with a broken hand and a hole in the wall, his throat tight and eyes burning from tears.
I would be sitting in Beth's house, bawling my eyes out in her arms and wishing he would just come sweep me off my feet again, like the prince he is.
But we would've gotten past that, we would've had a beautiful wedding day. All our friends and family gathered on the beach right under the track we raced on when we first met. I would've gotten pregnant and had our gorgeous babies. We would've had an amazing life...
But when you're me, you would've forgotten what you were doing. Like I had. You would've forgotten about that shitty bend and the broken guard rail, the one that was suppose to be fixed earlier today, but wasn't.
Someone probably got hurt and they had to stop, they said they would fix it tomorrow morning.
If you were in my position, you would've went off the side of that damn cliff, just like I had. You would've landed in the water just like I had. You would've struggled to get that annoying seat belt off, just like I had. As the car slowly filled with water, you would've started crying just like I had. You would cry for Will. You would beg God to help you, to get you out. But your pleads wouldn't of worked.
You would've drowned in your car, just like I had.
Just like I had.
