Three Filthy Boys

Me: fine! you caught me :( I wouldn't have the guts to throw Annabeth and Percy into Tartarus!
Annabeth: *shivers*
Me: well onto the show!!!

Cold. I was cold. It was the night I remember so well, but it hurt to think of it. I was on the corner of fifth and burn. A tiny four year old was walking next to me. he was nothing but skin and bones. he was very tall though, about a head shorter than myself. He was shivering so hard, I thought he would get hypothermia "you cold bubby?" I heard my younger voice ask. "n-n-no. i-i-i-i'm f-fine." he struggled to get the words out. "here, take my jacket, we might need to get you a bigger one." "n-n-no! I can't t-take your j-jacket! you'll get c-cold." but whatever he said from then on out didn't matter. he was my little brother, and I would do anything to keep him safe and warm. I quickly slipped off my jacket, the cold digging into my skin like knives. I wrapped my jacket around his tiny frame and kissed him on the forehead. I had that feeling when something bad was about to happen, so I grabbed his hand for good measure. "thanks." he said. "You know that I would do anything for you." I squeezed his hand, and we continued walking through the dead of night. I watched him for a few seconds, his head went up, a blond blob bobbing up and down beside me in the darkness. I looked quickly to my right and all I could see was a big, black, bloodshot eye.

I woke with a start, breathing heavily. that dream had been haunting me since I was ten. That was the night I found safety. Also the night I lost someone important.

A bright and sunny day when I woke up, but then again what day isn't bright and sunny here? I rose from my bunk in the Athena cabin and made my bed; the inspection would be later and the Aphrodite cabin never let's anything slide by.

Almost everyone was already at breakfast, so I pulled a t-shirt over my head, grabbed some jean shorts, brushed my teeth, pulled my hair back into a pony tail, and sprinted out the door.

Half way there, I saw my best friend Andrea come out of the Persephone cabin.

Andrea has long brown hair so long, that it goes almost to her butt. She has dark skin, and pale white eyes. 

"Hey Andrea!" I yelled waving at her.

"Hey Sam." She said when she finally caught up to me.

"That's all I get? 'Hi Sam'" I said in mocking horror.

"Let me try again" she said rolling her eyes. "Greetings my best friend, Samantha Collins, daughter of Athena, slayer of my time."

"you know it baby!" I said bumping my hip with hers.

Out of me and Andrea, I would say that I'm more the crazy one than she is. I know that it's hard to believe, being a daughter of Athena and all, but I'm just that awesome.

All of a sudden I stopped walking, breathing, blinking, and I started to stutter and my palms felt all sweaty. Andrea looked in the direction that I was looking, and she saw Leo Valdez and Connor and Travis Stoll coming out of the woods; all laughing their podex off, and filthy dirty.

"Hide!" I yell whispered to Andrea."why?" She asked as if the answer were not completely obvious.

I face palmed. She rolled her eyes and yelled "hey Connor!" They looked our direction, and started to walk over to us.

"Andy what are you doing?!" "What do you think I'm doing?" "Ruining my chances with the guy I like!" "Oh relax, you can be so uptight sometimes." She said waving her hand at me.

If anything, I was not uptight, I just liked it when things went my way.

"Hey Sam, hey Andrea." Leo said, and I swear my heart melted when he said my name.

"Hey Leo. So what were you guys doing in the forest?" I said trying to make conversation.

My ADHD was starting to get the best of me, so I was playing with my finger nails; chipping off the old purple polish.

"We were setting up something for capture the flag tonight."

Connor said. "Can I know what it is?" Andrea asked. "That is still a secret for tonight." Travis replied.

I had forgotten that the Hermes cabin and Athena cabin were the teams.

"So I take it your on their team?" I ask Leo.

"Yah, but I can be persuaded to abandon ship and come over to your side." He said winking

"Second best bathroom time?" I tried. "What about the first?"

"I traded the Aphrodite cabin for it; don't let looks deceive you, those people are vicious. But you know how they have to look perfect first thing in the morning."

"Nah, I think that I'll stay on the Hermes side for now."

My heart dropped, but I masked it with a smile as best I could.

"Okay, we'll whoop your podex either way."

"Bring it on girl, a daughter of Athena is good for making plans, she's not hard core." Connor said.

I stared him down; my best wolf stare.

"Okay! Your scaring me Sam!"

I smirked; Connor Stoll did not know the definition of 'hard core'.

"You'll see, Sam and I are going to win." Andrea said whipping her long brown hair around as she turned on her heels.

I waved bye to the three filthy boys and sprinted to catch up with her.

"I believe you know what we have to do?" I said.

She smirked

"Yes, yes my devious friend I do."

I gave her one of my signature smirks, and we parted ways.
