“You have my cell phone number?” I ask. “Yes. Now go! If I can handle Tarterus two toddlers should be no problem.” I stare at Annabeth for a second. She just compared my children to Tarterus. Thankfully Leo came up and grabbed me from behind and pulled me toward our car.

I stared at my phone in anticipation.  Annabeth would be calling soon. Probably. Hopefully.  “This is supposed to be a romantic evening.” Leo reminds me. “How am I supposed to enjoy myself when there are so many things that could go wrong? Statistically speaking exactly thirty-nine. Tyler could burn the house down. Natalie could dissemble everything we own. Percy could let them in the pool and drown them by accident. A monster could find them. Natalie could build a bomb. Tyler could find the Greek fire-“ “Sam, I am sure that there are hundreds of other things that could go wrong, but for tonight I ask you to please just concentrate on your very attractive  partner” he said the word with disgust and loathing.

Leo wants us to get married. I do not see any reason in it, my parents were not married. They had two children. Then dad got married to her. I guess that I just connect marriage to pain and suffering. People are meant to be free. Not constantly held down by someone they love.

Leo makes an action like he is going to hold my hand, but instead grabs my phone and chucks it out the open car window. “What did you do?” I shriek at him in horror. “I will build you a new one when we get home, but for now-““I was past sixty pipes in flappy bird! And the creator already took it off the app store!” He raises an eyebrow. “Flappy bird?” I nod. “It takes great skill to perfect how you do it.” He rolls his eyes at me but smiles.

“Leo?” I ask after about five minutes sitting in a comfortable silence. He looks up, nodding for me to continue. “I’m just scared. I put my blood sweat and tears into those two children. Did you realize that they both had unnaturally large heads? Blood sweat and tears.” He nods and then grabs my hand. “And I am sure that since they came into this world kicking and screaming covered in someone else’s blood; they won’t be afraid to leave the same way.” I rolled my eyes. “Tyler is barely four Leo, and Natalie isn’t even two yet. How in the world of the gods are they supposed to defend themselves?” I ask. He doesn’t answer, and I know that this small argument has been won by me.

The restaurant is big and fancy with waiters and crystal chandeliers.  Automatically I feel odd and out of place. Not because I am not dressed properly or because I don’t walk right or something stupid like that. I am out of place because Leo and I can barely afford something fancy like this; even for Valentine’s Day.  What with my job as a teacher/ unheard of writer, and his job of a mechanic isn’t much better. He pulls my chair out for me and I sit.

We just start to talk when a very high pitched voice shouts “Yes! Yes I will marry you Eric!” The people around us erupt into cheers and shouts of congratulations. “If you ever did that, then I would feed you to Festus.” I state calmly as I turn back to Leo. He lightly chuckled, and then the waiter came.

The waiter had a sly smirk on his face as he said “May I take your order?” I come to the conclusion that he had put that fake ring in her glass.

We order and have a very lovely evening. Nothing abnormal happens except another girl gets proposed to. And I know what you are thinking, no it is not me.

We are headed home, when Leo decides to make a quick turn to the right putting us in the parking lot of a park. He gets out, and then opens my door for me. I am a little surprised; we were supposed to be going home. I leave my heels in the car, and follow Leo without a word. We walk side by side, not saying a word; just swinging our interlocked hands between us.

What a perfect valentine’s day. Leo and I spent a lovely evening together. Then he trips. Right over his own feet. At least I think he tripped. From his jacket he pulls out a small box and opens it to reveal a ring. “Samantha Collins, will you marry me?” I stare at the box in curiosity. “No.” I say and keep walking.

“I did everything Aphrodite said to do! Nothing big or extravagant, never publicly, small hints of affection from time to time but nothing too big. What do you want from me?” He yells. “Aphrodite pays attention?” I ask. “We’re her fourth favorite power couple. Right behind Frazel and just before Roctavian. She watches us because she thinks we belong together. And Sam I think so too. So it is time that you stop being afraid of marriage and marry me.” His little speech was beautiful. “Marriage is a piece of paper! It is stupid and it is not wise to give your life to someone like that!” “Sam; I love you. We have both made sacrifices for each other, and if marriage is just a piece of paper I want that stupid piece of paper because damn it Sam, you make me feel whole.” I look at my bare feet; saying nothing.

After a while of just standing there Leo gets up and leads me to our car. “Yes.” I say so quite that he is the only one who can hear. He looks up from where his eyes were trained to the ground and I say it again. “Leo, I want to get married.”

Okay… So I felt a little bad for not updating today. I wrote this a while ago and thought you guys might want to read it. It shows how I feel toward all of those things. I am a nervous wreck when it comes to kids. I don’t hate marriage, but I’m not all for it either. So… Bye!!!
