It was a very long and super boring day of work for you. You started to walk back to the apartment that you lived in with your boyfriend, Patrick.
When you entered your apartment, you noticed that it was dark. Not a single light was on. You looked at the clock that was on the stove. It was 9:30pm. You knew that Patrick would still be up. On the way over to your bedroom, you went to reach into your pocket for your phone. It wasn't there. You left it at home since you were in a hurry to get to work on time.
Patrick was sitting on the bed going through some texts on a phone. You realized that it was yours. He looked at you when he heard you push the door open.
"Hey baby." you greeted as you sat on the bed with him. You gave him a little peck on the cheek.
"(Y/N), who's Mark?" Patrick asked you. You sat up a little straighter.
"I just work with him. He's always trying to get me to go on a date with him. He knows I'm with you." You laughed a little, but Patrick was showing no emotion.
Patrick set your phone on his nightstand. "You didn't bother to tell me about it?"
You frowned. "I thought you knew," You felt a little bit of anger rising inside of you. "because you're always accusing me of cheating! This is the third time this month, Patrick!"
"Well maybe if you stopped being so dang secretive, I wouldn't have to accuse you!" He stopped when he saw the hurt and tears in your eyes.
You looked at the carpet. "Why do we start fighting like this? What's the point of it?"
Patrick walked over to the closet to get his luggage. "Maybe we need some time away from each other. I don't think this relationship could go on any longer. I'll leave. You can stay."
Tears began to stream down your face. "No, Patrick! Please don't go! We can talk this through! We can get therapy or...something!"
Patrick stopped packing his shirts and looked at you. "(Y/N), I've been thinking that we've needed a break for a while now."
After what seemed like forever trying to persuade him to stay, Patrick was all packed up and opening the door.
You tried one more time, but couldn't think of anything to say.
"Patrick...please."
"I'm sorry." was his last words to you before heading out of the door.
You fell to your knees and covered your mouth. You wanted to scream, but you knew that some of your neighbors were fast asleep.
You picked up your phone from what used to be Patrick's nightstand. Your wallpaper was you and Patrick. It was from the time that he surprised you with a trip to London. It was beautiful.
It was also the place where you told each other 'I love you'.
