Chapter Twenty-

The sun set much too quickly. Eragon was soon nudging me awake as he stood over me in the sun set. His smile was amused when I yawned and stretched like a lazy cat before helping me to my tired feet. The two dragons were still sleeping between the trees’ small space. Without a word, Eragon latched on to my hand and lead me through a series of obstacles to reach…more trees? I raised my eye brows at him once he stopped before a small, thin tree and sat down with his elbows resting on his knees.

“I just wanted to be alone with you.” He murmured, not taking his eyes of me for a strange reason. I shrugged and sat at least a foot beside him, not comfortable enough to sit too close to him. I felt self-conscious of myself, but didn’t want it to show. Sighing once I realize I hate this much distance between us, I throw my legs over his and slide closer to him. In response, his arm wraps around my waist, but I can tell he’s just going through the motions with his mind on other things.

I hate seeing him so torn. I never asked of what he is thinking of, but I know it has something to do with me. My fingers play with the rings on my hand as Eragon stares off mindlessly into the dimming light of the forest. For a while I just watch him, knowing this may be the last time we can be together like this again. He doesn’t shift in his position or eyes.

Finally, I make the first move. My lips connect with the sweet skin of his neck, making him take a sharp intake of the cooling air. I trail my lips up to his ear lope, where I take it between my teeth and nibble gently. My hands are in his hair; messing it up more than it already was. Eragon pulls me effortlessly on to his lap and I allow his hands to wonder across my body. I kiss his collar bone aggressively, no longer playing as the innocent girl I usually was. Anger at the world coursed through me. Why had I only just found him? Eragon grabbed my waist tighter than usual and pulled me flush against him. In response, my fingers ranked through his hair violently. If it hurt, he made no move to correct it. Back to his neck, I greedily sucked at his tanned skin. His groan of pleasure vibrated through me.

Now my back is against the tree as Eragon pushes us into a standing position. My left leg straddles his right as his hand moves against my bare skin below my skirt. His fingers send fiery tacks up my leg, making me shiver with desire. My lips close around his suddenly once I can’t handle the need inside any more. Eragon returns the kiss immediately, pushing me even harder against the tree. Everything turns hot around me as the kiss increases quickly. He coaxes my mouth open easily while I slide my tongue ravenously along his own, feeling his body tense in surprise. He knows I’ve become a greedy hunter, and he isn’t afraid to give into my prowls. His hands lock around my waist tightly, but I won’t have that. My hips move effortlessly against Eragon’s and before long, he is moving against me naturally. Pulling myself closer, I grinded against him while kissing his lips eagerly, not bothering to stifle my moan when his arms squeeze me to him. He takes advantage of it and trails his hand from my shoulder to the back of my thigh. Hitching my leg to his waist, I push my hands under his shirt. My fingers trace his perfect abs, committing them to memory. His breathing is labored and when I look up at him, his eyes are closed. My hands travel beneath his shirt hungrily, until I finally pull in over his head to reveal the sight to my eyes. Flawless skin greeted my eyes and I wasted no time. My lips kissed his chest slowly until they lap softly against his collar bone, making his hands tighten around me and his breath to escape in a hiss.

Eragon kisses my neck suddenly, seeming to need something to do other than receive everything I gave. I groan as he pushes deeper and deeper against me. His hands brushes against my navel, making me gasp in surprise. His hands are warm as they are carefully placed against my exposed skin. My stomach flutters nervously, but I push it away. Instead, I scrape my nails down Eragon’s exposed back. He groans against my throat helplessly. Feverishly, I find my lips back to Eragon’s. He took my bottom lip between his teeth wickedly and bit down slightly. I did the same once he freed me, only harder, to show I could give him anything he gave me. He smiled adoringly down at me and threaded his fingers through my hair. Without a second thought, I jumped onto his waist and straddled him quickly. He falters for a moment out of surprise and turned so his back was against the tree. Perfect. I place both hands on his face and stare at his beautiful eyes lovingly. I kiss him slowly, moving our lips in impeccable harmony, I can’t help but feel the forgiving happiness wash over me. I forget about the world around us. I forget the people I’m supposed to meet, the lives I’m supposed to save, the war, the responsibility, and the sadness of it all. I forget everything. Nothing else matters except for Eragon. He is my world, my soul, my very breath. He is what completes me, and I would shout it for everyone to hear if I had to.
