I walked down the hallway, pass the science lab that had a foul smell surrounding the entrance. It smelled like cow dung and the sewage. I held my breath and let it back out when I was far enough from the room. Of course the smell was now in the file cabinets in my head, under awful smells, next to my brother's feet. I hugged the book closer to me and side stepped the crumpled dirty papers littering the hallway. It was usually homework, notes or handouts the teachers gave us. Occasionally there would be a candy wrapper or the remains of a used cigarette.

I walked down to the very end of the hallway, close to the boy's restroom where my locker was.

Oh joy.

I walked past a blonde girl that is in my music class, or should I say was in my music class. She barely shows up, and when she does its either because she was caught skipping class or her boyfriend for the day is in there. I watched as she tried to flirt with one of the nerds from math class. Probably because she needs her homework to be done. I did hear Mr. Landon threaten to call her parents the other day. She kept twirling her hair around her finger, biting her lip and flashing her chest at the poor boy who looked like he was about to pass out. His eyes were bulging out of his glasses and he was staring at her chest with his mouth wide open. She asked him something I couldn't hear but he immediately nodded his head, and I was surprised it didn't fall off his body. She smiled and strutted off over to one of the guys on the football team that I swear was making out with a brunette 20 minutes ago. He put his arm around her waist and they both walked off to do God knows what.

I shook my head and continued the journey to my wonderful smelling locker. Note my sarcasm.

I felt a small tap on my shoulder and I turned around only to be met with a pair of brown eyes that had emergency written all over it.

"Paisley, I need to talk to you right now." She said pulling me down to where my locker is. Granted it wasn't that far, but she pulled me like her life depended on it.

"What do you wan't to talk about?" I asked putting in the combination for my lock and desperately hoping she didn't want to talk about her boyfriend. Again. I mean it's ok when you don't know a couple of things when in a relationship, but this girl acted like she knew nothing. She probably didn't though, which is where I come in. The girl that everyone tells their problems to and get help right away.

"It's about Rodney." She started with a little smile on her face, sweeping her neat pile of curly brown hair out of her eyes and behind her ear without messing it up. If I tried that I would look like a soldier coming back from war. I groaned inwardly and started switching my books in my bag to the ones in my locker.

"He asked me to go get dinner with him tomorrow, and that I should bring a friend." She said her cheeks turning the lightest shade of red. "I didn't know what to do so when the bell rang I just ran and looked for you." She ran. That's real smart of her. Now, he might think asking her would be a mistake. I congratulate him on being courageous though. Lily hardly talks to him, or anyone for that matter, even though they're in a relationship.

"Dinner sounds nice. Where are you guys going?" I asked slinging my bag over my shoulder and putting the lock back.

"The little beach restaurant, on the beach." She said shifting her weight from one foot to the other. The beach. On a Saturday. Really smart, at least it's in the evening. "Sounds like fun hope you enjoy." I said smiling at her, happy she was actually going out with Rodney and was going to talk.

"I don't know what to wear from what not to wear, and how to fix my hair and how to do my make up and everything else." She rambled on as we walked to our last class of the day, music class. The only class I actually enjoy because i have lots of free time.
