It's been three weeks since that 'date' with James and life have never been more depressing... and lonely. Lily and Rodney are connected at the hip and James will not stop stalking me. Like at lunch when I saw him in the library. He's never there but I am. The way he 'tried' to not look suspicious was hilarious. He dressed in branches and a camouflage outfit. We weren't even outside today, so his whole get-up was for nothing. It was cute how he thought he could figure me out.
Right now we were in the last class of the day. Lily and Rodney being lovey-dovey with each other and me having a weirdo breathing down my neck... literally. Mr. Scott not paying attention to any of us but his lecture, left me doing my homework for chem class. I was so bored I was doing homework, usually I'll be drawing something but lately I haven't gotten any inspiration at all.
"Mmm that's not right parsley." An all too familiar annoying voice spoke up. I turn my head and our noses brushed together. I pulled back and looked at him quizzically as he didn't seem fazed at all by just how close we were. He stared at the book in front of me tilting his head in concentration.
"No, a hydrogen ion is H+ and a hydroxide ion is OH-." I looked down at my book not believing him. I wrote the complete opposite and was totally convinced that I was right. We argued back and forth throughout the whole entire period about who was right. Occasionally a few annoyed looks were thrown our way but we ignored them and continued our heated argument. I pulled out my notebook to show James that I was right and he was wrong, but I turned out to be wrong which left me with a sour mood and James taunting me.
Just to be sure I was planning to head to the library and research. James decided to tag along claiming he had nothing better to do. James, I found out likes to talk. He talked about his home, his family, how his big brother recently finished college and is working at one of the big corporations in California and how he became friends with Rodney. He talked the whole way but I didn't mind. I'm not one to talk about my personal life and besides, his voice was nice to hear. We stepped through the big wooden doors and James looked around in awe like a child would if they were visiting a place for the first time. His childlike behaviour brought a smile to my face, he didn't see though and I was thankful for that. I left him staring at some books for babies while I went to return a few books I checked out earlier in the week. I went back to James and pulled him to a vacant desk near the back.
"Look what I found a nursery rhyme book!" James exclaimed causing the nearby students to shush him. "Look what I found!" He whispered the excitement not leaving his voice. He flipped to the table of contents page and showed me the names of all the ones his mom read to him. He really did look like a little adorable kid even though he was a seventeen year old.
"I remember when I was really little and my brother told me there was a monster under my bed, so I couldn't sleep and my mom would tell me nursery rhymes because they were sooo boring and I fell asleep in no time." I smiled at the glint in his eyes and continued to listen to his stories. A librarian told us they were closing in five minutes and that's when I realized we were the only ones here.
"Why don't you check out that book James?" I gave my book to the lady as well as my card. "I can't, I don't have a card." I looked at him surprised. "What, why?" I was really surprised, every high school student have a card. "Because this was my first time going to a library." He looked so calm like it was natural for a high school student to have never gone to a library before. The lady was looking really annoyed with us so I took the book from James and gave it to the lady to scan. She thrust the book and my card at me, I was about to give that lady a piece of my mind but I was pulled out of the library and down the road. I saw an old wooden building coming up and realized it was a little restaurant.
"Where's are we going, why are we going?" His stomach growled and he pointed to it grinning. I glanced down at my watch, it read 5:15. It was late but not too late where the sun was gone. When we stepped through the door and all those different scents made me realize just how hungry I was.
