Sighing Oliver felt fingers move and start to kneed at the muscles in his back pleasantly. Jasper was pressed on his back as they sat together. Neither of them could think of a logical reason as to why Oliver had Cezar's memories. Jasper was worried for his mate, and the pack was worried for their Alpha. The day had slipped by in a sort of daze leaving the vampire and wolf in the darkness of night, and no closer to any answers.
Opening his eyes at the sound of his phone buzzing on the ground next to him, frowning slightly Oliver reached over and picked it up finding he had 19 missed calls. Answering it the wolf pressed the phone to his ear.
"Hello?"
"Oliver you need to come here, something's happened."
At the sound of his great grandfather's voice Oliver tensed up, his Nana and her mate rarely ever called him. Narrowing his eyes Oliver stood up, holding the phone with his shoulder as he pulled Jasper up with him.
"What's wrong?"
There was a pause and for a moment dread ran rampant in Oliver's chest. His mind flashing to his Nana with worry.
"I'll explain when you get here, and bring your pack. They will want to be involved in this."
Confused Oliver mumbled an alright and stared down at his phone. "Should I come with you?" Blinking and looking back at Jasper, standing in nothing but an old pair of grey sweats. "Yes."
Oliver was more than worried, grandpa was never the one that called him. He had always had a rough relationship with the old wolf, Oliver never felt like that man saw him. Now he knew it was because he looked so much like Nana's father. Stuffing the phone in his pocket the young Alpha let him mind link with his pack, the connection locking open as he walked briskly out of the room. Hearing his pack waking up in the living room.
"Alpha it's the middle of the night." Logan's tired voice sounded heavy as he yawned. Glancing at his tired friend Oliver's frown remained firm on his face. The expression catching Logan's attention, Oliver was deadly serious.
It took little time before Oliver found himself crossing over the territories onto his former pack's land. Jasper ran next to him with his pack flanking them. Keeping the run steady Oliver lifted his head, sniffing at the air to take the many, many unfamiliar scents that lingered in the air. Flicking his ears at every noise Oliver's unease rose higher when he caught the smell of blood. So thick it was almost suffocating. Feeling his heart clench with worry Oliver's legs pushed harder and he pulled ahead of his pack. Slowing to a stop just inside the backyard of the familiar house.
Oliver hardly noticed Jasper stopping next to him as his eyes took in the damaged house. The back wall was nearly completely destroyed, the pack was scattered around the yard. One by one they all turned to look at Oliver gravely. Catching his breath and walking forward a few steps the young wolf watched as the Alpha of this pack stepped toward him.
"It's been awhile Oliver." Reaching out Oliver leaned into a hug from his former Alpha, coming to a sharp halt as his eyes landed on the line of motionless bodies near the far side of the yard.
Panic slapped him in the face sucking in a sharp breath when he thought about who could be in that line, "N-Nana?!" His voice came out loud, his fear obvious as he stepped forward again. Desperately searching through the faces of the fallen wolves.
"She's alright Oliver." Looking up at the sound of his grandfather's voice Oliver's mouth opened in shock finding the old wolf covered in blood. His left arm missing, red-stained bandages wrapped around his chest hiding the wound from view. "Grandpa?" The old man eyed his grandson, and the familiar vampire standing by his side. They reeked of each other, so thickly no one could tell where vampire started and wolf ended. Dominick had never seen a pair bonded so perfectly before, not since his mate's father. Like a sense of deja vu history seemed to be making its rounds. First Oliver, the perfect after image of Cezar. Then Jasper, bonded to both of them. Now this. This attack.
