Sweat shined off Oliver's bare skin, gravity pulling beads down following the curves of his musculature. Jasper found himself mesmerized staring at the plain of his mate's back. Especially the way his shoulderblades shifted under his skin as the cords of muscle flexed with every move of his arms. The shape of his biceps and the thickness of his broad chest on display.

"Jazz." Whoever called his name was at the furthest edge of his attention. The vampire could feel his gums aching painfully to sink into the Alpha male's soft flesh. Since returning home Jasper had let Oliver have time and space with Xavier, obviously they had a lot to catch up on. However somewhere in the midst of their heated arguments and gesturing they had gotten into a wrestling match. Jasper stood nearly pressed into the wall sized glass window that overlooked their back yard and the forest beyond. His eyes trained firmly on his mate.

"Jasper." Humming to himself Jasper bit his bottom lip hard feeling his throat burn, it had been nearly a full day since he had fed and it was bothering him though he wouldn't interrupt Oliver. "Jasper?" Letting out a breath that fogged the window slightly the vampire felt the pit of his stomach twist with appreciation as Oliver's body turned upside down, his arms carrying his weight as he flipped back over.

"Dad!" Blinking Jasper's eyes tore away from the sight and turned to land on the person that had yelled at him, Cameron. Swallowing was difficult as Jasper realized his breathing was elevated.

Cameron was staring at him with his eyebrows raised expectantly, shaking his head and clearing his throat Jasper mumbled lowly at his son. "What's wrong?" Contorting his face slightly into a look mixed somewhere between amusement and worry Cameron glanced toward the wolves in the backyard.

"Are you alright? I mean, what happened wasn't exactly a small thing." The words pulled a flinch from the vampire as his mind jumped back to the earlier events. It had happened so fast Jasper wasn't entirely sure it had happened at all. He still found himself anxious and expecting the redhead to suddenly appear from the trees with a wild rage to finish what she started all those years ago. The man couldn't find it in himself to relax and accept that it was over.

Turning his eyes down and lifting his hand to absently trace the scar of his mark. He could still recall what had happened with Cezar, he barely managed to fight the redhead for as long as he did before it ended in her favor. It amazed Jasper when Oliver's encounter played out so differently.

He had surmised the fight was going to be the same. That Oliver would struggled to keep the female vampire at bay, but that was not the case. Looking back on it Jasper realized it had been a doltish assumption. Despite Oliver's resemblance to Cezar there was more than enough difference between them, the major one was that Cezar had been a rogue. Loners didn't have the matched strength of pack wolves, the social structure of a pack is what made them strong. Cezar was strong, not doubt in Jasper's mind of that.

It just came down to the simple fact that Oliver was not only a pack wolf, he was an Alpha. The size of his pack didn't mean much in the way of anything, it was still a pack. A loyal pack at that. Their trust in Oliver was actually astonishing considering how young the wolf actually was. That was what gave Oliver the advantage. He was just... stronger. That was it.

Sighing softly Jasper glanced back out the window, tensing when he found Xavier's eyes pinned to him from the ground below. A cold expression on his face that didn't go unnoticed. It made Jasper frown before turning back to his son.

"I'll be fine." Murmuring lightly the vampire let himself remember his dead mate once more, the pain was still there and Jasper had come to the realization that he would never really get over it. He had lost his mate, and regardless of having him back in a way history had ingrained the event permanently into Jasper's soul. "If you say so... Do me a favor?" Shrugging the conversation and grim thoughts from his mind Jasper turned and smiled gently at Cameron.
