Chapter Two - Feelings

Hanji awoke in a cold sweat. She had just been saved from a horrible dream. It was already fading but she recalled it being along the lines of being eaten by a titan, and Levi was somewhere in the dream too. She lay still for a while, unsure of where she was. "Wait. Am I in the infirmary?" she thought she recognised the tall ceiling and the crossing beams but she wasn't sure due to being without her glasses. She sat up very slowly careful of the sharp pain she had in the back of her head. Her limbs felt weak and achy, she looked around and almost jumped at the site of Levi asleep in an armchair. His armchair. "Wait, did he bring that in here? Why?" She studied him for a while, she looked at his sleeping face, for once he wasn't scowling, in fact he appeared quite peaceful. She noticed that he had dark circles under his eyes, darker than normal suggesting that he wasn't sleeping well. She felt tired and noticed her eyes drooping and so she fell back asleep thinking about Levi.

"Ugh" Levi grunted, he checked his watch. 6 hours of sleep and he still felt tired. He normally limited himself to only 3 hours a night but he had been awake for at least 2 days straight watching over Hanji. He looked at her with a blank expression but his face soon softened at the sight her her smiling in her sleep. "She looks so not crazy when she sleeps" he thought to himself. Without thinking he took her hand in his and noticed that it was icy cold and he took both of her hands in both of his in an attempt to warm them up. "I wonder why she is smiling..." he pondered on this thought for a while, still holding her hands in his. "Is it me or is she actually pretty without her glasses and messy ponytail. Not just pretty. Beautiful". After about 5 minutes of just sitting in silence staring at her he had the urge to wake her.

"Hey Shitty-Glasses, wake up"
Hanji Zoe woke to see the one and only Shorty looking deeply into her eyes. She decided that this was his caring glare and she also decided that she liked this glare. "Hey Shorty, what am I doing here? What are you doing here?" she asked. He replied with "Well you being you decided to go after a 14 metre titan on your own and you somehow managed to end up falling 20 feet from tree. You even made it into the titan's mouth and would have been titan chow if I hadn't helped". "I vaguely remember something like that but...not really..." she said while gently rubbing her head. "You hit your head pretty hard Four-Eyes. You have been here for over 2 days!". She shot up from her bed but Levi's strong hands pushed her back down gently, she flinched at his touch at first but soon relaxed. She sighed deeply. "Thank you" Hanji confessed. "What?" Levi looked confused. "For saving me, thank you". Hanji repeated.

Levi's cheeks felt warm, he looked away before Hanji could see him turn into a tomato. Hanji reached out her hand and gingerly touched his chin, turning his face towards her. His face was warm. She looked at him with a questioning look and with a shock she realised that his grey eyes were shiny with tears. Seeing this stony faced man who never strayed from glare actually crying made her cry as well although unsure as to why. Levi got up from his armchair and sat on her bed and buried his head into her shoulder. Hanji put her arms around him with one hand stroking his raven hair. "I thought that I had lost you Hanji" Levi whispered with shuddering breaths. Hearing him use her actual name and not a nickname brought her to realise that what happened really broke him. "Why am I crying?" But in truth she knew. It was because she loved him.

"Well I'm here now Levi. I won't leave. Not now"
