Chapter Three - Recovery

After being in and out of sleep for about 3 days Hanji was moved back to her own room. She remembered being lifted by two strong arms and being carried through the halls, looking up to see a sleepy Heichou. Feeling confident that she would not be dropped, she fell back to sleep.

Levi took one last look at Hanji, who was sleeping in her bed where he put her, and gently closed the heavy wooden door. He felt bad to be leaving her alone but holy balls was he tired. He was sure to be back in the morning to check in on her.

Morning came and Levi awoke at around 7am. "8 hours of sleep? That's a record for me". Many thoughts were going through his head while he got dressed into his usual garb of a white shirt, trousers and his Survey Corps jacket but one prominent thought was about one person. Hanji. He walked stone faced towards her room careful to take long strides to hide his short legs. Peeping through her door he saw that she was still asleep but had managed to twist herself into her blanket. "Tch, you're such an idiot" he said to himself but directed at Hanji. He shoved her over and moved her blanket so that it was covering her properly. She rolled onto her back giving Levi the chance to study her face. "Wait. Is she smirking? Tch, why is she always so eager to show her emotions?"

Hanji awoke to see Levi slip out of her room. "Wait, I'm in my room? Oh yeah I was moved... "She was thinking silently to herself and also wondering why she was still so tired, she had been asleep for DAYS. "Ah well, still tired" and with that she drifted off into yet another nap.

"Ugh, what time is it?" Looking at the position of the moon outside she confirmed that it was about 1am. Hanji then proceeded to get up and walk around because 1am is of course the best time for it. Only when her doorway was no longer visible did she start to feel her injury catching up with her. Feeling dizzy and sick she slid down the cold wall feeling fainter and weaker than ever. She soon lost her grip on consciousness.

Levi couldn't sleep. He was too busy being awake (he don't like sleepin' but he don't mind sweepin')He checked his pocket watch and it read 1:32am. "Great, that's six and a half more hours until everyone else wakes up". Unable to over ride his impatience he sprung out of bed and donned a white shirt to cover his bare chest. *click* his door closed behind him and he was glad he wore shoes because the sight of the filthy floor sickened him. "Tch, these people just don't appreciate cleanliness!" 
He turned a corner of the corridor and there was Hanji. But she was on the floor shivering. His pace quickened. "Oi. Get up" he nudged her with his foot but there was no response. Levi then scooped Hanji up and decided to take her back to his quarters seeing as she was in no fit state to be left alone.

Despite the strange looks he got from the night guards Levi walked granite faced to his room carrying an unconscious and half naked Hanji. She was only in a shirt and small linen shorts. Tch, what was she doing out and about like that? He thought bitterly as he set Hanji down on his bed. Ensuring that she was comfortable-ish and covered with a blanket Levi set about doing some work seeing as he couldn't sleep. "Tch. To say that the job i signed up for is mainly field work of killing Titans there sure is a lot of paperwork..." He said this out loud although unsure as to why.

Levi checked his watch. 4:27am. Feeling a bit tired he got up and walked over to his bed but stopped abruptly when he noticed that there was a sleeping woman in it. Remembering that it was Hanji, he lifted the blanket and rolled her over with his foot and climbed into bed. It was a narrow bed and certainly not made for 2 people but he just had to make do. He removed his shirt and slipped under the duvet careful not to wake Hanji. Despite his feelings for her he stayed at the edge of the bed not wanting to touch her bare skin.

Slowly but surely Levi drifted into sleep with Hanji beside him and a small smile on his face.
