I open my eyes and see that my hair is dry.
I smile and start working on getting dressed and putting on makeup.
I walk into the kitchen to see Devon yawning with her usual coffee and Deborah looking at some sheets of paper.
"Did we get the copies?" I ask looking over Deborah's shoulder.
"Yeah," she replies giving me the copies to look at.
All of them look the same. Female, organs splayed out. It's quite gruesome. I look at the most recent one which is certainly an outlier. A kid (still a female, around 7) but still her guts displayed all over the screen.
"It's bad isn't it," Devon says walking over with her coffee.
"Yeah," I reply disgusted at what this demon has been doing. "I had another vision. But I was in water."
"That's really weird," Devon says looking off in thought.
"You have school today," Deborah says changing the subject.
I sigh and rub my temple.
"Right," I mumble.
"Well better get going," Devon says snapping out of her trance. She hands me a backpack and a coffee cup. "And please don't kill anyone."
"No promises," I grumble as I walk out the door.
I put in one headphone as I walk the short distance to the bus stop. This was the furthest the bus went. Devon and Deborah live so far out from the heart of the town.
I arrive at the bus stop and glance around. Literally one other person. I sigh to myself and wait impatiently for the bus. This bus was different than the one I took when I first went so Megan won't be on it.
When it arrives I hurry to the nearest empty seat and sit down. Sometime during the ride I feel someone staring at me. I look behind me and everyone is talking or not looking at me. I ignore the feeling and just focus on not killing anyone.
The entire day I'm kinda out of it. I can't brush the feeling of someone watching me and it's driving me crazy. Good thing I don't actually need to learn anything today. I ate lunch with Megan on the bleachers again which was awkward as hell because she can't shut up.
I zone out but I hear something that really gets to me."Why is Alice lying to me?"
But she didn't say it. And I keep on hearing her voice just not her lips saying it. They're quite random too. Like, "wonder if I can sit next to the hot guy in math" and "do penguins have knees?"
Then it dawned on me.
I'm reading her thoughts.
I nearly laugh. This is a major invasion of privacy but a huge step in my powers.
I nearly squeal with delight. Ash will be thrilled."What you smiling about?" Megan's actual voice drags me out of her thoughts.
"Oh nothing," I say hoping she drops it.
But she doesn't, knowing Megan.
"You know, that Trevor dude was gone while you where gone," she says thoughtfully. "And now he's back the same day as you. Isn't that strange?"
"Oh my gosh Megan," I say trying to not let the irritation creep into my voice.
She giggles.
"Just saying," she says raising her hands up.
My finish lunch and proceed with our day. In my second to last block I completely zone out again.
