Chapter 16

I feel a small pang in my head as if someone is trying to break out.

I groan and slowly fall to the ground as the headache grows surprisingly fast.

"What is it?" Trevor asks crouching down next to me.

I massage my head and squeeze my eyes shut. I bury my head in my hands as a few images flash behind my eyelids.

I can barely make them out, but all I see is a flash of Devon and Deborah dead and a flash of a very shaken up Lilly calling for Ash.

I force my eyes open and quickly get up nearly knocking Trevor over.

"Alicer-"

"Something wrong," I say nearly jogging away. "Somethings really bad."

I pull out my phone and dial Lilly's number. Something tells me that Devon and Deborah won't answer me and that alone makes me want to puke.

I pull up the phone to my ear and wait for her to answer and silently pray that she does answer. The phone rings a few times before she answers.

"Lilly somethings wrong," I say as way of greeting.

"I know," she responds her voice shaking.

"What happened?" I ask immediately sensing something off.

"A vision, I had a vision," she speaks quickly. "Devon and Deborah died and then I tried to reach out to Ash and I didn't get a response."

"Shit," I mutter. "Can you get me?"

"Alicera I can just teleport you," Trevor says reminding me of his presence.

"Alice who is that?" Lilly asks.

"Trevor," I reply simply.

"Wasn't he being a douche like a few days ago?"

"Yeah," I reply laughing even though it made my gut wrench.

"Ok I'll meet you at Devon and Deborah's in a few minutes," Lilly says before a click signals she hung up.

I pocket the phone and walk back over to Trevor.

"You'll have to have a clear image of where we're going," he says grabbing my arm. "After all, I have no idea."

I nod and close my eyes imagining exactly where their house is. I imagine the front door, the small garden and the dirt road.

I feel my stomach drop and then I feel my feet on the ground again.

I slowly open my eyes to see that we're right outside their house.

And that Devon and Deborah are dead.

--------------------

"Lex!" I yell running over to the older woman crouching over the bodies.

As I get closer I realize she's clutching a note tightly and tears are silently streaming down her face.

I take a closer look and immediately regret it.

Devon and Deborah are laying next to each other eyes wide open and blood surrounding them. Their throats are torn up, looking like something forced its way in. Alexia is still tightly clutching the note which I slowly take away from her.

"They found out," she says quietly. "They knew where the demon was hiding. I took a few seconds with my jacket, walked out and they were dead."

I carefully unfold the note trying to hold back my tears from spilling out.

What a shame. But not. Such pretty smart girls, bet they'll have a ball in hell with me. I keep telling you guys to give up but you just won't, oh well only more of you to kill.

I drop the note watching it fall to the ground. I feel tears slowly stream down my face as it slowly dawns on me.

Devon and Deborah are gone.

They are gone forever and were the closest to finding out what we needed to know. My aunt who I just got back, already gone.

I feel like I should feel more. More sadness, anger, or desperation maybe, but all I can feel is a numbness that makes it nearly impossible for me to want to feel anything.

"I can't believe he would do this," Trevor mutters from behind us. "He's really pissed."

"Who is that Alice?" Lex asks without turning around.

"I'm Trevor and that." He points at the bodies. "Was my grandfather."

Lex's head perks up at that.

"Alice are you sure we can trust him?" Alexia asks cautiously.

"He's the first thing I fully remembered Lex I'm sure we can trust him," I reply slowly.

"Sure trust the girl who lost all her memories that's totally legit," Lex mutter sarcastically.

That really stung. I know Lex is really upset after her twin dying but it still hurt.

Lex's eyes widen as she realizes what she just said.

"I didn't mean that I'm just sor-"

"It's fine Lex," I say even though it's wasn't at all fine.

We hear the sound of tires rubbing against asphalt and watch as Lilly approaches us.

"Oh my god," she whispers as she looks at the bodies.

She runs over to us and I can tell she is holding back her tears.

I feel Trevor walk over and stand behind me examining the bodies.

"He left a note," Trevor says with a tone of surprise.

Lilly picks it up and hands it to him to read.

As she hands it to him, Ash appears next to her glaring at Trevor.

"What happened?" He asks looking at the 2 bodies on the ground.

"They found out how to track the demon and he killed them," Lex responds sadly.

"I think I know how," Trevor says glancing at the note. "Any smart demon wouldn't leave a note. A note, if you do it properly, can be traced back to whoever wrote it. It's nearly like he wants to be found."
