It was late morning and you had to sit through another English lecture. After this, however, you were free to go home.
You and Mark walked hand-in-hand down the hall towards the lecture room. Your fingers were interlocked and you could feel your promise ring squishing against his finger. He had an engineering lecture while you had to sit in an English travesty. You reached the door and he turned to hold both of your hands. You smiled a goofy grin up to him.
"Still on for tonight? Seven fifteen at yours?" Mark used a low-sexy tone to remind you of your date.
"You bet! I'll see you tonight.." You give his lips a quick peck before letting him open the door for you.
"I love you, Sunshine," he calls after you. A few girls around awed at hearing it and made you blush heavily. As you looked back, you saw Jack weakly smiling at you, walking in behind.
"Good morning everyone. Get seated! I have an announcement." Your lecturer, Mr Armstrong, yelled so everyone could hear. Regaining your seat from last time, Jack sat three seats to your left. You exchanged smiles and a little wave before tuning into Mr Armstrong.
"Okay, so, now I've got your attention, I want to tell you about an upcoming assignment!"
You sighed and thought of ways to end your suffering right here, right now. He dragged on for ages about the topics to choose from but you only clicked when he mentioned the tense part.. Project Partners.
"Based off of grades, I've paired you all up with people of the same standard. Let's begin.. Ash and Jay. Reilly and Marie. Josh and Evan. Daniel and Amanda. And finally, (y/n) and Jack! Go find your partners now and get to know each other until the end..." he finished. Now, you were left to your own devices to talk to Jack.
Jack. Jack? Of everyone else in the fucking room.. Jack?
You look to your left to see Jack, minding his own business on his phone.
"Oit, you. Greeny.." You joke. He looked up and smiled at you.
"You're funny, you know?" He sarcastically told you.
"So, project pals? What does that require?" He asked.
"Basically, we have to complete the assignments together. Whether it means siting with each other all night or on FaceTime, we have to be verbally communicating, apparently." You laugh.
Your pathetic lecturer made this assignment more of a friend-making course rather than serious degrees and shit.
"Whatever the requirements say, I guess?" Jack sounded uneasy but also kind of bubbly.
The bell rang and you gathered your things.
"I'll text you tomorrow or something?" You say to Jack before going your separate ways.
"Awesome, see ya!" He called, smiling.
You left campus and headed home. You couldn't wait to get all dressed up for your date with Mark tonight!
