Mom was going out of breath in her silent hysterical laughing mode only if her son saw her like that she would have it. I stared at her and then at Manik. He was strolling throughout the house with Manini in his arms who was giggling her heart out of joy.
I was as usual confused as to if I was happy to see him there. I think I was happy, the silly smile on my lips vouched for that but then Manik was not supposed to be here especially after the morning spat when he had declared openly that he won't ever look back at me and then in the evening BOOM!!!. He is right in my house I mean his house too along with his luggage. What was he up to? Gosh!! The confusion is going to kill me someday so it was better that I let my husband do the honors of clearing it instead on stressing my tiny brain any more. I tripped and tumbled on his bags to reach him. Of course it was his house he could throw anything anywhere including me."Manik what are you doing here?", I asked making a cringy face and rubbing my knee. Manik let out a deep sigh at my brilliant motor skills. He glared at me like I couldn't even walk without him which was true by the way.
"Daddy ish shtaying with ush", his daughter replied on his behalf dangling her legs from his arms.
Manik gave a lop sided mean smile and declared, "Right baby and now princess and Daddy will stay together..hai na baby",he gave her a hi five and got kisses in return. He put her down. Manini hopped to her granny to share her joy and Manik got his attention to me and saw a frown building on my face.
"What??Why are you looking at me like that?Main apne ghar nahi aa sakta..why do you look so surprised? Wait let me try... you actually didn't expect me here...you must have been very happy when I said I won't come back to you...you thought you got rid of this eccentric man and I am so sorry to disappoint you", he spat with tons of sarcasm.
"Manik you know aaisa nahi hai", I pleaded softly. It hurt me so much to hear him talk like that to me and probably my pain reached him. He couldn't bear that look in my eyes. He grabbed me roughly and pulled me to him.
"Don't even think I came here for you...I can very much live without you but then ye mera ghar hai and I have to every right to stay here", he said mincing the words in between his jaws.
My face fell as he didn't mention me, "And me?", I asked disappointedly. Did he mean I had no place in his life and his house, "You want me to leave from here", I was ready to cry buckets and his grip on me tightened further.
Manik grunted hoarsely at my stupid deduction making me feel outrightly foolish. He was really beyond my understanding first he gave me the feel that he hated me and didn't want to see me but when I come to a conclusion he rejected it straight.
"Dont you dare step out of this house", he said with an all rights reserved tone and suddenly realized that maybe he was sounding possessive. He couldn't afford to make me feel he was there for me so immediately modified, "I...I mean...I didn't know tumhe mere saath rehne mein itna darr lagta hai...are you scared that you will lose it around me", he remarked cheekily and I kept staring at him blankly. Our constant gaze were trying to find each other. He rose his hands and caressed my cheeks, "Let's try your theory...you remember na...let's stay together under one roof and we shall see who loses...I don't matter to you anyways so my presence shouldn't bother you and even if it does then that is none of my problem", he taunted craftily
I knew he was challenging me exactly like I had tricked him to share the apartment with me after our first fight in the initial days of our relationship, "So you want me to pay rent to you for staying here", I purposely asked to irritate him and he jerked me roughly in his grip, "This is my husbands home that means my home...I am not paying any rent", I bit my lips mischievously as he got more annoyed.
