Chapter 6

I was on the porch of the old mansion, slumped in one of the wooden chairs with my phone in my hand, scrolling, rereading the same messages from Elunar. My thumb hovered over the keyboard but I couldn't type anything back. The breeze was warm, but the air around me felt heavy.

My chest hurt every time I remembered that night—one month ago.

I'd told Eclips the next morning that I'd only take responsibility if she was truly pregnant. I'd been furious at what she did to me, at what she slipped into my drink. I accused her, and she'd only laughed in my face. She'd told me no one would ever believe me, not with my reputation in town—the reputation of Thunder Apolonio de Mayor, the infamous fuckboy.

My fists clenched at the memory. That bitch.

Even now, the night felt like a bad dream. Not all of it was clear. My head had been heavy, my body had been hot, and my senses had been drugged. I didn't even know if I'd actually released inside her or not. A part of me was sure I hadn't; another part of me wasn't so sure.

From that night on, Eclips had vanished. She didn't come to the ranch, didn't send me any messages. Good. Let her disappear. Let that night die and rot in the back of my head.

Maybe I'd made a mistake. No—it wasn't a mistake. It was something done to me. I hadn't been myself.

But how could I tell Elunar? If I told her the truth, would she hate me? Would she leave me?

A sudden ache flared in my chest. Elunar had already electrified my senses. She'd left me an impression of an angel willing to love a devil like me. I closed my eyes and saw her face; I remembered how she'd shivered when I took her virginity, how her voice had cracked as she whispered my name.

And then the thought came like a blade: What if I got both sisters pregnant?

I swallowed hard. My heart pounded. My hands were damp.

Then, cutting through the haze of my thoughts, came the sound of a car horn at the end of the driveway. I looked up and saw a yellow car pulling up. The door opened. Eclips stepped out. She spotted me on the porch and smiled as she walked toward me.

"Thunder!"

My brows furrowed. "What the hell are you doing here, Eclips?"

Her smile widened. "I'm pregnant."

My heart dropped. She's what?

"You're the father," she said without hesitation.

"Maybe the drug is the father." My glare sharpened.

"Take responsibility if you don't want your family name dragged through the mud. I don't want the Falacia name destroyed either..."

"Fuck you, Eclips. You drugged me."

She walked right up to me and grabbed my hand, pressing it against her stomach. "You are the father of this child inside me. It may have happened the wrong way, but you're still the father. Are you going to deny this baby a whole family? Are you going to let it grow up a bastard? I know what I did was wrong, but do you want me to get rid of it instead?"

My mouth fell open. "No. Don't."

"If you won't marry me, then I'll get rid of it!" she declared.

"What?! Are you insane?"

My head started to pound, my temples pulsing. Too many thoughts were spinning at once. The life inside her was innocent. My fingers gripped the wooden rail of the porch. My breathing turned heavy, shallow.
