Meg and "Her Cassie"

Cas's POV:
It's been a couple hours since the coffee shop meeting with Dean, and after much deliberation, I decide that right after dinner is the best time to text him. I revise and rewrite my message until it's slightly less awkward sounding and with a deep breath, hit send.

You: Hello, Dean. It's Cas, your brother's future boyfriend. :)
Dean😊: Hi Cas, what's up?
You: Could we discuss the details of our arrangement?

Ugh, that sounds so awkward, I think to myself, Dean probably thinks I'm a boring loser.

Dean😊: Sure! You'll be working at Meadow Creek High, and my brother is a Sophomore. You'll have to possibly defend him against bullies and stop kids from insulting him. Sound okay?

You: Yeah, I think I can handle that :) I'm a senior at a private school but I have friends who can get me a pass for a couple months to transfer to your school.

Dean😊: Perfect, if you have any more questions, just ask. Can you start on Monday?

You: Of course. See you then!

Dean😊: Bye!

I shut my computer, relieved. My first conversation with a hot dude that I didn't totally mess up!

I call up Meg, a somewhat shady college junior who sells everything from crack to chocolate if you know how to ask. We've been friends since elementary school, where she was much older than me and protected me from all bullies because I was "her Cassie."

***italics is Meg, regular is cas***

"Meg? This is Cas. How are you?"
He could practically see Meg smile through the phone.
"Cassie? Long time, no see. I'm good, you?"

"Um... Well actually..."

"What do you need from me now?"

"Can you possibly find a way for me to transfer to Meadow Creek High for a couple months?"

Meg laughs. "Child's play. What will you give me?"

"I can buy your favorite rocky road ice cream and pamper you hand and foot for a week?"

"Usually I ask for money, but that sounds better. You've got a deal."

The phone hangs up and Cas smiles. Meg never has been one for goodbyes. Now that that's solved, he just has to focus on the confusing mess that is his love life.
