* Riley's P.O.V *
"Won't be long, sweetie," shouted dad from the front door. I rushed downstairs, his chocolate brown eyes gleaming like they always did. He was strict but fair, but he was a lawyer so you couldn't blame him. He also always spoke his mind. In court, at home, at family meetings. He spoke before he thought, and it was his big weakness."See you tonight, And I'm cooking chicken curry!"
"See you"
"Love you" and the door clicked in the latch.Another day of school, until the gorgeous half- term. I couldn't wait as me and dad were travelling to Spain. Splashing around in the glistening sea, sunbathing under the scorching heat of the rays of sunlight beaming down from the azure sky. Staying up super late and never having to wear a coat. I was bursting with excitement. I ambled over to my rucksack and placed my geography book into it. I glanced at my watch. I have ten minutes till I have to leave and I've done everything. Oh great, I have time to go on my phone! I switched on my iPhone 6 +. Suddenly a news flash popped up. It said "MAN STILL TO BE FOUND AFTER HIS ESCAPE FROM JAIL! BEWARE! A tall, dark-haired man is supposed to be around Merchant Square. "
Panic struck through me like a lightening bolt. That's where dad works! I've got to call him straightaway. I dialled his number. I waited and waited until ... uh, stupid voicemail. I decided to text him, warning him of the dangerous prisoner. That should be okay, that should reach him in time
*Mason (dad) P.O.V*
"Oh a text" I switched on my phone and clicked on messages, but before I could read anything my phone ran out of power. It's probably just nothing, saying love you or something. The train was so bumpy but I had to take it because my Range Rover was having its M.O.T . Finally ,my stop, Merchant Square.
I arrived at work but the streets seem so deserted, with only one or two people. This London we're talking about. I nearly broke my jaw I when my mouth dropped because I was so surprised. I walked into Costa Coffee, with only the barista at the till.
"Wait a minute while I get more cups" she said
I sat down. Suddenly, two hands grabbed my shoulders and two grabbed my waist! They hauled me up and started dragging me along the street. I was kicking and screaming like a baby but no one could me as they were muffled by a piece of tape being strapped around my mouth. This must have been Riley's text. I ruined my life by forgetting to charge up my phone. And the worlds most dumb prize goes to...... Mason Fletcher.
