The police station was eerie and gloomy. As I walked in it was so cold I shivered. I greeted the man at the desk and told him I was here to visit PC Hammond. He told me to walk through a corridor then turn right then there would be a dead end where his office was. I thanked him and said goodbye.
The corridors were bland and grey. No pictures or painting hung on the painted walls as I hurried down them. We needed to find my dad as quick as possible.
I knocked energetically twice on the glass door. Ouch! That door was harder than you would expect. I bit my teeth and tucked my hand under my sweater to try and numb the pain.
"Come in."
A lady swiftly opened the door and there was PC Hammond, sitting at his desk, his name tag proudly at the front. He looked like a very smug and mean man.
"I hope you realise that wasting our precious time," he smirked ," I mean my precious time can end you up in jail for at least a year. Anyway, do sit down " He spoke to me as if I was a baby. He had one of those faces that mimes do to show they are sad. I mean seriously, I'm fourteen, not four.

"If this 'case'," he motioned bunny ears on the word case, " is worth doing something about I will be utterly surprised

"If this 'case'," he motioned bunny ears on the word case, " is worth doing something about I will be utterly surprised. Never had we at this police station had a child come to us with a sensible request. Now stop wasting my time with sitting there being totally silent. Tell me what's wrong. I mean seriously, how stupid can one person be." Okay, what's wrong with this man. Obviously, he doesn't like kids.
"Well my dad, well he hasn't been home for at least a day. He rarely does this and when he does, he texts me first. But I haven't received on text or phone call and that is so unlike him. Could you help me in any way to find him? You don't even have to look for him just help me, give me some advice."
" Hmm, Jane, get PC Alexander." I haven't got all day, Jane." PC Hammond was the most grumpy man I ever met, more grumpy than my Social studies teacher, Mrs Gerardson, an old lady/tortoise , who should be on retirement. Jane rushed out of the room.
"Good morning, lovely to see you here today. Now what is the matter?" This PC Alexander was way nicer than grumpy over there.
"Just some stupid 'case' by a ten year old" interrupted grumpy. Those bunny ears are going to be the death of me, I swear.
" I'm actually thirteen" I corrected.
"Who cares,"
"Be quiet and stop being rude, PC. Let her speak for once." She turned to look at me after she glared at grumpy. I'm starting to like her even more than I did before. "Now, you and only you, tell me the problem."
I told her the whole thing more precisely than I did to PC grumpy-face. She actually nodded and listened to the whole thing, understanding every word I said. She mumbled a few times, saying mmm and yes. She then spoke up.
"Well, it looks like we need to do something about this" grumpy looked shocked, his mouth resembling a vast cave." My advice is to wait to see if he turns up. We will have a search party to see if we can find him, but no promises. We will also contact a detective agency partnered with us, to try and find him. Do you have any relatives?" I nodded "Then we suggest that you give us more than one relatives  phone number and ask them to keep you for a couple days. Do you know any?" I said yes and told her three numbers. I then told her that my dads older sister is more likely to take me on than his younger because she has a house and one kid who I am really good friends with.
PC nice phoned her up. More mmm's and yes' were said but finally PC nice talked to me.
"She has decided to take you on!" I was so relieved. "Go home and pack your stuff. Do you know how to get there? Good. It was a pleasure working with you. We will do the best we can. Goodbye."
We shook hands and I walked out of the room. I said thank you to PC nice and Jane, but not grumpy. He was taken aback. No one had ever done that do him before. A little tingle of happiness ran down my spine as I left the building. Now time to pack my stuff into my designer suitcase and walk to my lovely Auntie's house.
