chapter 18

'Where is the money?' he asked again

'i don't know where ma and pa kept it!' i lied

"you are lying!!" he yelled

Time.

i had to save Kim out of here.

Brittany knelt beside me and i was surprised with what she did next.

she gently untaped my legs without making a sound as Jason roamed the room with the gun without noticing where Brittany's hand were.

why was she helping me? she found out she was used and suddenly became my friend?? not so fast.

i didn't move a bit while she untaped me slowly and gently.

he went to Kim, pointed the gun to her head and growled like the devil himself.

"let's see if she's worth saving" he shouted
"where the hell is the money Emma?!!"

Kim nodded her head in a no to me but she knew me too well. she knew i would talk sooner or later so instead of going straight to the point, i went in circles.

'It is with Mrs Potter, I was so scared, it has been with her all along," i lied again.

he pulled my hair very tightly and it hurt so bad. it was my real hair and not a wig, even hair extensions were no match for hair on a real person's head being pulled like this.

"you are very smart baby but I'm smarter"

he picked his phone

"get that useless old woman, my daughters nanny. if you dont find her, don't bother coming back or you kill anybody related to her. Her name is Juliet Potter!" he ordered on the phone.

he didn't even notice i was free.

as he tried to pull the trigger, Brittany kicked the gun out of his hand and a shot was wasted.

wasted. Thank God.

"Emma!" Kim screamed

i stood up immediately and ran to where the gun is but i was too sluggish.

he hit Brittany and she knocked out leaving me and Kim alone again. The lady isn't as strong as she blabs to me, just a punch and she was out. I ran to where Kim knelt and he pointed the gun to my head this time.

'You are making a mistake baby' he said devilishly with a smirk reminding me that the devil was really once an angel.

"they will get Mrs Potter and force her to hand me the papers, then you'll be gone for good" his eyes were very red, obviously from lack of sleep. so much for wanting to get rid of your wife, ex wife as the case may be.

"you are so foolish!'' i yelled
"you are not as smart as you think you are hubby!"

his eyes widened in shock and we could tell he was furious. He didn't expect me to talk back but hey! I was full of surprises and he wouldn't kill me that soon until he got everything and probably Mrs Potter's voicemail.

'who do you think the girls went with? they are all in Southern Africa" i smiled with my bloody face

he hit me again and i spat blood. Kim was yelling for him to stop.

'oh, i underestimated you Emma!' he growled and cursed.

'yes you did hubby' i smiled with a bloody mouth.

he hit me again.

i was weak but i kept pushing him to keep him away from noticing that i was untying Kim.

Brittany was awake now and he didn't notice that too.

he dragged me by my hair to the other side of the room and pointed the gun at me.

"you are of no good to me then, I'll get her pretty soon and you'll be gone, say me hi to your fucking parents!"

this was it, reality shone brightly to my face. i thought about My kids, Mrs potter and my lifeless body. i thought about the man I've fallen in love with, Dan.

as he tried to pull the trigger, I heard a gun shot and this time, the shot was on Jason. I opened my eyes to check earth and my body to see if i was alive and complete.

his body gradually fell with a thud in front of me.

"I HATE PEOPLE WHO HIT WOMEN!" a very strong looking man with a hat, vintage shirt and a boot yelled.

" cousin Ernesto!!!" Brittany shouted weakly

just then, three more look alike men came in and i assumed they were brothers.

"Emma!! Kim!!!"

Dan and Drew ran from behind.

tears were pouring from my eyes as Dan ran to me, Drew ran to Kim and Brittany ran to her cousin..I felt weak immediately as I lay on the bare ground.

Dan hugged me and i hugged him too, we stayed there for about ten minutes as we weren't ready to leave each other.

"Emma?" Kim called my name weakly as well

i left Dan's arms and ran to Kim.

"I'm sorry Kim" i hugged her hard as we both cried.

"I'm very sorry Emma" she wiped my tears and I wiped hers too...

My best friend.

"lets get out of here" Drew said.

"clean this mess!" Ernesto ordered without emotions as we all got out of the building.

Dan piggy backed me 'cos i was too weak to walk to his car.
"how did you find us" i asked out of curiosity.

"sometimes good people are always forced to do bad things because they are afraid to say no" he replied.
