Chase motioned for Skye to follow him out into the hall. Skye looked back at Rocky who had drifted back to sleep and then followed him. "I don't like it, I don't want Rocky to have anything to do with that family," said Chase. There was fire in his eyes as he spoke.

"I know," agreed Skye. "But he seemed sincere in his desire to be a part of his life. With him being an engineer, maybe he can help Rocky with his ideas."

"But he already made the point of saying that Rocky might be better with family," Chase pointed out. "I'll walk away from my career to see that that never happens, no one will take Rocky away from us."

"Maybe if we get to know him together, he will see how happy Rocky is and we can decide if it's okay for him to be a part of Rocky's life."

Chase sighed with a bit of frustration. "We'll see." They walked back into the room and Chase stood over his sleeping son. 'I'll protect you no matter what,' Chase thought.

Everest was walking back into the room talking on the phone when she noticed something felt heavy in the room. "Did I miss something?"

"Only Rocky's long lost uncle showing up out of nowhere and scaring the hell out of him," replied Chase.

"Uh, is that bad?" asked Everest

Chase sighed. "I don't know."

"Well I saw Rocky's doctor talking down the hall with some guy," said Everest. "I guess that might have been him. He seemed pretty upset, I figured it was about another patient."

"Chase, it will be okay," said Skye.

"I'm going to go talk with him," said Chase.

"Please don't do anything stupid," said Skye.

"Ha, you know me," replied Chase as he walked toward the door.

"That's exactly my point," Skye said coldly.

Chase walked down the hall and found the doctor and Rocky's uncle talking in the hall. "Mr. Boxer, I would like to speak with you if you have a moment," Chase said, trying to keep himself under control.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Shepherd," said the doctor. "I should have brought him in to introduce him. I did not put the story together until Tracker explained it."

"I'll admit, I was shocked by your reaction," said Mr. Boxer. "I had a moment to reflect on the big picture and I totally understand if you don't want me in Rocky's life. I will just check up on him from time to time. You have my card, feel free to call me anytime." He turned to walk away, but Chase placed a hand on his shoulder.

"About that," said Chase. "You mind getting a cup of coffee with me, Mr. Boxer?"

"Not at all," said Mr. Boxer. "And call me Tracker, Mr. Boxer is my father."

"I'll just leave you two to talk," said the doctor, going back to his rounds.

Chase and Tracker walked down to the cafeteria and grabbed a cup of coffee. "I'm sorry for the way I came across, Tracker" Chase started. "It has been a really taxing couple of days. I let my fear get the better of me."

"The more I thought about it, the more I understood. I didn't realize Rocky had been as traumatized as he was. If I knew he was being physically abused, I would have found a way to stop it," said Tracker. "I was shut out of their lives a long while back and all I ever saw was yelling. When I called him on it, we got into quite the fight. That was the last time I saw any of them."

"He was abused, and I was the one that took his parents down," said Chase. "My wife and I fell in love with Rocky and he has been the greatest thing to come into our lives."
