Cassie's POV
"Bye I can't talk anymore I am almost there," I say to my boyfriend as I turn into my parents neighborhood:Crowmit. What a funny neighborhood name.
"Ok, bye I will see you next month," after he said that I hung up. I saw my parents house and I was so excited to see them again. But when I pulled up into the driveway there wasn't another car there. So I went inside and the house was empty. I went to look in the backyard and saw that my parents still had Christmas decorations up.
After I finish looking, I go to the next door neighbors house to see if they knew anything about it. And I notice that the whole neighborhood is kind of like a ghost town. I knock and a few minutes later a girl answered the door. I saw her before.... Gabrielle, my childhood friend.
"Cassie,what are you doing back?"
"I came to visit my parents but it turns out they are gone. Do you have any idea what might've happened?"
"No."
"Well I got to figure out what happened to them."
"Let me help you at least, I probably know this town better then you."
"Ok you can come."
"Yay! Now I can get out of this house."
"Ok where do you suggest we go saying that you know this neighborhood better than me?"
"I suggest that we talk to the neighbors first."
"Ok you lead the way." The first neighbor we went to was the one on the left side of the house.
We knocked and immediately someone answered. It was an old man who looked like he has never seen other human life before.
"What do you want?" Well at least he knows how to talk.
"We were wondering if you knew anything about your next door neighbors?"
"Yes I do....I know that they live in that house."
"Ok,sir, I really need to know if you know anything because they are dead out of no where."
"I know they had a Christmas party and then after that I never saw them there again."
"Ok thank you sir, sorry for using up your time."
"You better," I heard him say under his breath.
"Well that was interesting,"Gabrielle said.
"Yea, now on to the next house." "We are going to be here all night," I said just now noticing how many houses their were on this street.
We walk to the next house and knock and a girl about the age of 5 answers.
"Mom someone is at the door!"
A lady walks down the stairs with a toddler at her heels and a baby in her hands." Yes?"
"We were wondering if you knew anything about the neighbors that lived in that house?" I said pointing to my parents house.
"I knew they were always out and about helping everyone out. They even came here to help watch my kids. "
"Thank you,mam."
"Your welcome and may I ask why you are asking?"
"Because they were my parents and now they are gone."
"Oh my I am sorry to hear."
"Ok bye now," I said.
"Bye." The next houses were all no's, no answers, or no one lived in that house.
"I think we should go to bed now and continue in the morning," Gabrielle said.
"Wait one more house."
"Fine."
I ran to the next house and knocked on the door. Two minutes later a grumpy man answered. He had tattoos up and down his arms and was wearing a sleeveless shirt.
"Hello, I was wondering if you knew anything about the people who lived in that house down there?" I said pointing to my house again.
"Nope, goodbye," and he slammed the door in our faces.
"But sir!"
"Well he is a possible suspect," Gabrielle said holding in a laugh.
"Oh shut up," I said actually starting to laugh.
"Do you wanna stay at my house?" Gabrielle said after we stopped laughing.
"Yes please if I slept in my house I would not be able to sleep."
"Ok I will help you carry your stuff into my room."
"Ok." We went to my car and got all my stuff from it.
"How much stuff did you bring?"
"Enough for a month."
"Or ten years," Gabrielle said under breath.
"I heard that."
As soon as we went inside there was a dog jumping on me.
"Fluffy down!" Gabrielle said and the dog got off and gave her the death stare.
"I didn't know you had a dog."
"Well you have been away at college for 2 years."
"Oh yea," I said laughing. Once we got into her room Gabrielle pulled out a sleeping bag for me.
"I am going to go change into something a little more comfy."
"Ok." I took my sweat pants and went to change in the bathroom. When I came back Gabrielle was changed too.
"Ready to stay up all night?" she asked.
"Maybe not all night it was a long car trip here."
"Fine." We stayed up till midnight then Gabrielle went to sleep. I forgot how hard it was to sleep with the wind howling. I finally went to sleep with a memory in my head.
**Flashback**
I couldn't have been younger than the age of five. I was living in the house at the time and was playing hide and seek with my parents.
"Ready or not here I come," I heard my dad call from downstairs.
"I'm gonna find you Cassie," I heard him getting closer.
I giggled. He opened the closet door and said," I found you Cassie." Then he threw me over his shoulder and ran around the house. He finally set me dis on the couch.
**End of flashback**
I woke up and the fell back asleep about 10 minutes later having yet another memory.
**Flashback**
I was about the age of 10 and I was on my way to 4th grade.
"Daddy I'm scared," my little self said to the driver.
"Don't be honey they are going to love you," my dad said stealing a quick glance at me.
"But what if I don't make any friends?"
"You will I betcha you will be the most popular kid in your class."
"But what if I'm not smart enough for 4th grade?" I/ my little self said as worries started flowing out of her.
"Don't worry Cassie you will do fine."
"Ok."
**End of flashback**
This time I didn't wake up and just slept happily.
