Chapter 5

The couple days have been uneventful. Alex is still in chemotherapy, the screams have stopped, and the police still aren't on my missing parents case.
   "Cassie! Your phone is ringing!" I heard Gabrielle yell down to me.
   "Ok I am coming," I said going up the stairs while hoping it is not Ben.
"I'll answer it before it goes to voicemail," Gabrielle said as I went up the last step. I heard a faint hello.
   "Here," Gabrielle said handing it to me.
   "Hello?" I said.
   "Miss. Bisdy?" The person on the other side of the phone said.
   "This is her."
   "Ok this is Officer Jackson."
   "Ok why did you call me?" I asked.
   "We need you to come to the station so we can ask you a few questions."
   "Ok when?"
   "Anytime today will work."
   "Ok I will come around 3:00 I said.
   "Ok I will see you in a hour," Officer Jackson said hanging up.
   "Who was that?" Gabrielle asked as soon as I put the phone down.
   "A police officer, he wants me to come in for questioning," I said.
   "So are they doing your parents case know?" She asked.
   "I guess."
"They better," she said like they were her parents not mine.
"I better go get ready," I said running up so I could get in the shower.

"I am going alone," I said to Gabrielle at the front door.
"Good because if I was I would be going in my pajamas," she said smirking.
"Ok well I better go bye," I said walking out to my car.
It took me 20 minutes to get there.
   "How can I help you?" A different lady from last time asked me. She probably quit. Haha! I thought.
   "I am here to see Officer Johnson."
   "Ok just a second mam," she said tying something into her computer. A minute later a officer came. He had a couple graying hairs and bright blue eyes.
   "You must be Cassie, I am Officer Johnson," he said holding out his hand for me to shake, I took it.
   "Nice to meet you."
   "Well if you would just follow me," he said walking into a back room. I followed him all the way to a room that had a desk and two chairs in it.
   "So are you beginning my parents case?" I asked.
   "Yes we are that is why I called you here today."
   "Great."
   "Ok first question, do you know when your parents went missing?" Officer Johnson asked.
   "I am pretty sure it was around Christmas."
   "Ok next question, do you have any idea who it might be?"
"No everyone in the neighborhood is so nice."
"Ok next question, where were you when they were kidnapped?"
"Probably at college."
"Ok last question, what was at the house when you saw it?"
"It was like they were still living there, nothing was wrong."
"Ok that concludes our questions," he said standing up.
"So I can go?" I asked.
"Well I just want you to know we will probably be going to your parents house to inspect it."
"Ok thank you."

"So how did it go?" Gabby asked me after I came back.
"It went good and they are definitely on the case."
"Good it took them long enough."
"I know right?"
"Oh yea I got a text from Alex and it turns out that the chemotherapy is helping!" Gabby squealed.
"Really? That's great!" I said squealing along right with her
"So now he can be your boyfriend," she said.
"I just went through a break-up," I said wanting her to drop the subject of that.
"That doesn't matter I know you like him."
"Maybe you like him," I said smirking.
"No way, eww!" Gabby said pretending to be disgusted. We just laughed really hard at that.
"But seriously I think you like him," Gabby said after we regained seriousness.
"Maybe I do maybe I don't," I said wanting to see her reaction once I said that.
"You do!!" She squealed.
"Maybe I do maybe I don't," I repeated.
"Ugh! Just tell me."
"No I think you can wait," I said smirking.
"No I can't! Please just tell me," Gabby said on her knees now begging.
"I already made my decision, I am not telling you," I said crossing my arms over my chest.
"Ugh," she said standing up and flopping on the couch.
"Ha ha," I said jumping up before she could punch me.
"I am going to get you," she said chasing me around the whole house.
"I win again," I said exhausted as I sat back down.
"You always win," Gabby said pouting.
"I know," I said smirking. Before she couldn't answer her phone started to buzz.
"Hello," she said into the phone.
"Ok."
"Ok."
"Love ya bye."
"Who was that," I asked after she hung up.
"My mom she is coming back tomorrow," Gabby said.
"Tomorrow!"
"Yea, what's wrong?" Gabby asked confused.
"Have you seen the messy house?" I said gesturing to the whole house.
"Oh yea."
"Yea we better clean or your mom is not going to be to happy."
"I hate cleaning."
"Me too, but we have to do it."
"Fine," Gabby said defeated.
   "I will do downstairs you do upstairs," I said.
Gabrielle dragged her feet up the stairs and into our messy room. Once I knew she was up there cleaning I started cleaning myself. First was the living room. It was so messy. There was popcorn everywhere, candy wrappers, and soda cans. I really hope I can get this done in time. I went to the kitchen grabbed a trash bag and just starting throwing EVERYTHING in the bag.

   By the time I was done with the whole downstairs 3 trash bags were full, tied, and down by the road. I even finished before Gabrielle. I wonder what happened to her it wouldn't take this long to do one room. I walk upstairs and into the room to find her.....SLEEPING!!!
   "Wake up!" I yelled grabbing a pillow and wacking her with it.
   "I'm up I'm up," she said rolling out of bed.
   "You were supposed to clean in here, that was all you were supposed to do," I said looking around and seeing that she has cleaned up nothing.
   "I know I was but I decided not to," she said while she stretched.
   "Ok but when your mom comes back...."
   "Who cares?"
   "You when she comes back."
   "You mean not me?"
   "Sure," I smirked.
"Man am I hungry," Gabby said going downstairs.
"I can make dinner if you want," I said running into her because she stopped at the bottom of the stairs.
"I feel like if I walk any further I will get it dirty."
"You won't just go ahead," I said chucking.
"We should make dinner then go see Alex if we can," she suggested.
"Ok what do you want for dinner we can make grilled cheese or grilled pb&j?"
"Grilled pb&j sounds good to me."
"Ok let me make them real quick."
I took out the skillet, bread, and pb&j. It took me about 5 minutes to make them and set them on the table.
   "You are a pro at these," Gabby said after taking a bite.
   "I literally have them almost every night at college," I said getting a sandwich for myself.
   "Speaking of which, you only have 1 more week before you have to go home right?"
   "Yea, I hope the police find out what happened to my parents before then," I said thinking of how I was going to leave without knowing what happened to my parents.
   "Hopefully," Gabby said as we finished up our sandwiches. After we were done Gabby changed and got a package of cookies out of the cupboard before we left.
   "Are you bringing those for Alex?" I asked.
   "Umm sure," she said.
   "You were going to bring those for yourself?" I asked as we rode to the hospital.
   "I might've of," Gabby said bowing her head. I just laughed and she eventually joined in too. By the time we got to the hospital we were taking deep breaths to calm ourselves down.
   "Hey guys," Alex said as we walked into the room. Alex officially had no hair on his head due to chemo.
   "Hey how's it going here?" I asked.
   "It's going fine though I have lost all my hair," he chuckled while rubbing his bald head.
   "Oh really I didn't seem to notice," I joked which got him to laugh.
   "So have the police found any news on your parents?" Alex asked when a nurse came in and told us to settle down. Nothing like a nurse telling grown kids to stop messing around.
   "No they haven't and it sucks because I leave in a week," I sighed.
   "You are still leaving?"
   "I don't know I mean all my stuff is in Missouri."
   "Bring it here."
   "Why do you want me to stay?" I asked.
   "Umm...," he scratched at his bald head.
   "Do you like me?!" I exclaimed," do you like me?" I repeated but quieter for the nurse. 
   "Ummm no I didn't say that," he said not meeting my eyes.
   "You do!" I exclaimed not bothering to quiet down.
   "Fine you got me," he said holding his hands up in surrender.
   "But why would you like me?"
   "Because you are pretty, your personality is amazing, and you are you." I didn't reply.
   "I'm sorry that I said it I mean you just went through a break up and all.." He just kept on going on and on.
   "I like you too," I admitted.
   "Really?"
   "Really and truly," I smiled.
   "I can't believe it I have my first girlfriend, I mean if you want to be my girlfriend?" Alex questioned.
   "I would love too," I just couldn't get the smile off my face.
   "So does this mean you are going to stay?" Alex asked.
   "Of course I am going to stay!!" I exclaimed.
   "Wait where is Gabrielle?" Alex asked.
   "Oh my goodness has she been at the cafeteria this whole time?!"
   "She probably has," he chuckled.
   "That girl," I said joining in.
   "You have 2 more minutes," the nurse said while peeking her head through the door.
   "Ok," we both said.
   "Well I better go get Gabrielle," I said.
   "Ok bye Cassie," Alex said before I walked off down the hall to the cafeteria keeping a smile on my face the whole way.

   "Are you serious?!" Gabrielle yelled in the car on the way home.
   "Yep me and Alex are officially dating," I said the smile not disappearing.
   "I knew you guys would end up together I just knew it."
   "Well you were right is that what you wanted me to say," I joked.
   "Actually that is exactly what I wanted you to say." Man I have laughed more today than I have laughed all year.
   When we got home I saw that the police were just leaving my parent house. I hurried and parked then ran out of the car so I could catch them before they left.
   "Officer Johnson!" I yelled before that familiar officer got into the police car.
   "Yes Miss. Bisdy?" He asked right before he got into the car.
   "Did you find anything to help find my parents?" I asked quickly.
   "We found a few things but we need to bring them back to the station for sampling."
   "Ok thank you," I said as I walked over to Gabrielle's house and watched all the cop cars leave.
   Just as I was about to go in I saw someone's skirt flying in the wind before I was knocked out.
