I got up and opened the door, but there was no one there.
"Hello?" I said out into the darkness but no one answered.
"Must've been a ding dong ditch," Gabby said after I laid back down.
"Must've," I said even though I know knew I was probably not going to sleep well tonight.
*****
I was right I did not sleep good last night, but apparently Gabby got all her "beauty rest."
"I'll make breakfast this morning," she said," because I don't want you drooling all over my food."
"Ok," I yawned as I shuffled into the kitchen.
"So what do you have in this kitchen?" Gabby mused herself as she searched through all the cupboards.
"I am having cereal," I say standing up and getting the box of Fruit Loops.
"Party-pooper," Gabby joked as she got a pop-tart.
"Yep, I am a party-pooper because I don't want my house to be burned down."
She didn't say anything, just changed the whole subject," so have you heard anything else about your parents?"
"Other than that they found a couple things in the backyard, no."
"Well I hope your parents are ok," Gabby said with sympathy.
"Me too," I sighed as I took a bite of cereal.
                *****
I was cleaning the house when I heard the house phone ringing. I ran into the kitchen and answered it and on the other end was, Officer Jackson.
"Miss. Bisdy?"
"This is her."
"I am calling you on behalf of all the evidence we found at your house."
"Ok."
"Ok so you know how we found the footprints?"
"Yes," I said kind of like duh.
"We found out that one is men's size seven and the other is men's size nine."
"Does that help?" I asked.
"We also found out that the brands are both Nike, so we just have to look up recent buys of Nike's," he said like going through store's history was no big thing.
"What about the cloth?" I asked remembering the other day.
"It belongs to a lady, is supposed to be used as a handkerchief, but was probably used as a mouth cover to muffle the screams."
"Ok thank you," I said.
"Bye," Officer Jackson said hanging up.
I took this moment to rest my head in my hands and sigh. I don't think I will ever see my parents again and if I do would I even want too?
I sat back up wiped the single stray tear that fell and went back to vacuuming.
*****
"Hey Alex do you want to come over and watch a movie?" I asked Alex over the telephone.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked hearing the sadness in my voice.
"Officer Jackson told me today about the things they found in my backyard and I'm losing hope," I sighed.
"Here I have somewhere we can go, get ready I'll be at your house in 10," Alex said joyful as he hung up.
I shuffled my feet upstairs and changed into a jeans and a normal t-shirt.
"You ready?" Alex asked after I answered the door.
"Yea," I said plastering a fake smile onto my face.
*****
We pulled up to the hospital?
"What are we doing here?" I ask confused as we step out of the car.
"Getting your hope back," Alex said with a grin as he took my hand and walked us inside.
"Can I help you?" A lady at the desk asked us.
"We are here to see Faith," Alex said.
"Ok go right ahead," she said with a smile.
"Thank you," Alex said as we walked off towards chemo patients, where Alex stayed.
"Who is Faith?" I whispered into his ear.
He didn't answer just brought us into a room where a little girl was sitting on her bed.
"Alex?" The girl, who I am know guessing is Faith, questioned sitting up.
"Hey Faith," Alex said coming over to sit by her.
"Who else is with you?"
"My girlfriend Cassie," he said holding out his hand for me to come over.
"Hi Cassie my name is Faith," she said sticking out her hand to me. I shook it nicely.
"She has really bad chemo, but she still has hope that one day she will be better," Alex whispered in my ear.
"So Cassie what's your favorite color?" Faith asked eager to make conversation.
"My favorite color is blue what is yours?"
"My favorite color is yellow because it reminds me to have joy even in the darkest of days," she said happily. This girl is wise.
"That is amazing," I breathed.
"What is your favorite food?"
"Umm, probably chicken wings."
"I wish they served chicken wings here," she sighed," all we get is weird macaroni and mashed potatoes."
"Maybe one day I can bring you something special," I suggested.
"That would be great thanks," she smiled real wide.
"I'm so sorry guys but Faith has to rest," the nurse came in and said.
"It's ok," Alex said," Bye Faith."
"Bye Alex, Bye Cassie," she waved goodbye.
*****
"Thank you for bringing me there that really cheered me up," I said to Alex on my front porch.
"No problem, I'm just glad to see your real smile again," he joked.
"I'll see you later," I said giving him a peck on the lips before going inside.
I watched him drive off then went to go get changed. All with a smile on my face.
*****
"We need you to come into the station as soon as possible," Officer Jackson said the next day before hanging up. So much for not losing hope.
I grabbed my keys and ran out to the car not bothering to change out of my "comfy" clothes.
I was there as quick as I could be with the occasional red lights and Officer Jackson was waiting for me in the front.
"Come with me," he said a little nicer than the call I received. I didn't protest or try to figure out where I was going but just followed.
We went all the way to the back of the police station where they get the pictures of the criminals and two men stood inside there along with 3 officers.
"We found two of the suspects," he said before he opened the door for me to walk in.
"How did you find them?" I asked.
"We went on recent Nike searches."
"Did they have my parents with them?" I ask as I watched their pictures get snapped as they held signs with their names on them. Harry Stuman and Freddy Frier.
"Unfortunately no but we are closer to finding the last suspect and we are guessing he or she has your parents."
"How close?" I said hoping that my parents don't die before we find them.
"We have to finish questioning these boys and then we will be extremely close," he said gesturing to the men.
"Do you think they are dead?" I ask knowing he knew that I meant my parents.
"There is no way to tell if they are dead or not," he said as he held the door open for me to leave.
"Thank you," I said before I walked off back towards the front.
*****
As soon as I got home I got out the ice cream and just sat on the couch all day. Pretty soon I might have to go to bed, because tomorrow I'm job-searching. Yay! Not. Gabby's mom suggested me and her get a job and you probably know how it is when your half-mom suggests something. She isn't suggesting it she is telling you to do it.
I think I will just work at the first job they let me have. The I will just move on from there. But most likely Gabrielle will be picky and take forever. Sounds like legit Gabrielle.
               *****
"Open the door!!!" Gabby was banging on the door while I was upstairs throwing some pants on.
"Coming!!" I yelled back as I buttoned my pants then ran downstairs to open the door, Gabby almost falling in.
"Let's go," she said while pulling me to the car.
"I need keys to drive," I laughed as I got out of her grip and grabbed the keys.
"Let's go to the mall first before it gets super busy," Gabby suggests once we get out of the neighborhood.
"Ok," I reply as I take a shortcut to the mall.
"Straight to Aeropostale," Gabby said. I laughed a followed her to her "dream" job.
"Hello are you hiring?" She asked the first person she saw.
"Let me go ask the manager," the man replied before going into the back room.
"Are you the one asking for a job?" I am guessing the manager asked Gabby.
"Yes," she replied.
"Ok here are the papers bring them back any time this week."
"Ok thank you," she replied before we left.
I can't believe that it is going to go the other way around. Gabby got a job first and I didn't.
"Where do you want to go?" Gabby asked.
"Let's try the food court," I suggested as Gabby took off again. I found her talking to a subway worker.
"Is this your friend?" The person asked as I walked up.
"Yes," she answered.
"So you would like a job?"
"Yes," I said trying not to sound cocky.
"So we are hiring, just give me a minute," she said as she went into the back room.
"Here you go," she said when she came back and gave me my papers so I could work there.
"Thank you," I said nicely before we started walking back to the car.
"Well that was quick," Gabby said as she skipped.
"You know what I thought?"
"What?" She said as she stopped by my car waiting to get in.
"That I would get my job real fast and you would be all picky," I said as I unlocked the car so we could get in.
"Well guess it was Opposite Day."
"No cause if it was Opposite Day then it wouldn't be Opposite Day," I said.
"That's right," Gaby laughed as I took off towards home.

So this chapter was a little here and there, so sorry for that. But I promise I will try to make the next chapter better. Comment on what you thought and don't remember to vote.
