Prime minister, Andrew Hemmings, had a name everyone in Australia knew. His son, Luke, was no different from him there. In the public's eyes, they were a picture perfect family. Christian. Conservative. Hell, even their dog was perfect by all standards. But since he was just 13, Luke wanted so much...less.

It was all kept to himself for the majority of his childhood; he would sometimes protest to the occasional formal attire at events as most kids do. All of this cooping up has been having him think, not long before his 20th birthday. He thought of all the exciting memories that could've been if he had had a normal childhood. Even when his dad was just in parliament, he had to keep up this gentlemanly-like facade at just the age of ten and on. Just the thought of all he missed out on made him want him to rebel, but he didn't even know if he would ever be able to do that. All of this makes his heart wrench.

College is where he had even the tiniest bit of freedom to be himself with his best friend since primary school. Calum was the son of one of the most successful, female lawyers in the country. She has helped the family in times of need and the favor is returned. Calum has always been around for Luke in an incredibly similar fashion. There was not all admiration from Luke though. Over the course of their close friendship, he had developed a sort of envy for the carefree (and sometimes rebellious) life Calum had lived daily. He was allowed to go out. He was allowed to have shameless hookups. He was allowed to get tattoos he has always wanted. He had the normalcy that Luke craved. This sort of jealousy Luke has let his mind wander to had its effects on their friendship sometimes. Disagreements were not foreign in their day-to-day encounters. It never mattered in the end though, because they knew they loved each other and were always going to be there for one another.

Tonight was one of the nights where Calum invites Luke to his rather large flat to hang out with other rich, mostly average students in the school that were going to drink and have fun all while Luke avoids it all for the sake of his family. It was all beginning to bore him but hey what else could he do?

The blonde boy had moved out of the primary residence of his family to a bigger house his family owned in the poshest part of the city. He had another house in Sydney but chose to stay closer to what he was familiar with. If he was being honest, he's incredibly scared of going outside of what he knew since he was so sheltered. He's scared of his ignorance of the big party life he still longs for.

He begins to head out of his house shoeless, since Cal was rushing him to hurry over to his car. Flashing lights blur his vision upon opening the door. Cameras and paparazzi weren't as abundant as they were as a child, probably because they realized that there was nothing that could tarnish his family name. However, people with awaiting cameras still swarmed his house waiting for the perfect shot of Luke with his 'tousled, blonde locks' or 'dreamy blue eyes'. The only thing they'll get today are his feet slipped through tattered socks.

Apparently, Calum is just too impatient to wait as a call triggers his Blink-182 theme song. Luke rolls his eyes and reluctantly answers, "I'm on my way, dude. Chill out."

"I'm in a different lot and car. It's private; I'll text you the directions. Drive there and I'll see you there," Calum spoke. Luke raises an eyebrow. "It's gonna be fucking lit."

"Wait, what are we doing? I thought we were just going to have some drinks with a few friends."

He laughs on the other end, "No, no. Forget them for now. We're going to have some real fun tonight."

"Dude, you know I can't do that."

"Yes you can. Trust me here, Luke. Okay I gotta go. I'll see you here in 20!", and the call ends abruptly.

Luke's stomach churns. He wonders what he means by 'real fun'. Drugs? Hookers? He wasn't sure what to think of this all.

(A/N yall this took like 2 hours and its not even that good or long but trust me i am trying my best to straighten shit out. I had to research australian government and also the effects of a sheltered childhood. This will all come together in the end. im all about character development and the philosophy aspect in literature and ofc my fanfiction cant be any different. btw lukes dad is totally out of characters but trust me its for the sake of the story. Anyways thank you a lot for reading pls vote and leave kind comments and constructive criticism!!!!! Love u)
