Stu had some thinking to do as he rode back home how was he going to get Hayley and Michael together. A promise is a promise he thought and I’ve always kept my word with Michael and I’m quite friendly with Hayley anyway as she only lives a block away and we often see each other. Stu made a special point of passing Hayley’s house not his normal route home but there’s always a chance that he may spot her.
He was right she was just getting out of her Mom’s car so he stopped and shouted" Hi Hayley" and she came over, "Hi Stu was that you and Michael I saw earlier on your bikes?" "Yeah probably" he said. "Where were you going and in such a hurry you don’t normally go that fast?" "Go that fast I was really having trouble keeping up, Mike’s pretty quick when he puts his mind to it, will you walk with me a while" said Stu? "Okay." They chatted generally about school and how they were both doing not to mention how much homework that they have been given recently, which they both hated. Hayley then brought the conversation back to about where he and Michael had been going to in such a hurry.
Stu then started to explain briefly what had happened about the argument Mike and Jane had had, but leaving out the cause of the argument for the moment. Mike just wanted to let off some steam and have a talk. "I remember the fight they had last year it was the talk of the whole school, they didn’t", Stu interrupted Hayley saying no Mike stormed out of the house as it was going way over the top. Finally Hayley asked Stu what was it all about. This is my chance thought Stu and there’s no subtle way of putting it I haven’t had much time to think about what I was going to say, so let’s just do it and see what Hayley’s reaction will be. They stopped and sat down on the grass. "Well you know Hayley Mike has an almighty crush on you at the moment" Hayley blushed immediately turning almost scarlet in colour, "and Jane was teasing him about it and it was getting out of hand." Stu then looked at Hayley and noticed how red she had become and continued "you do like Mike don’t you?" he asked noticing her colour up again. Although more than a little embarrassed she said "yes I do and I think that Mike knows that Stu, why doesn’t he talk to me he’s had lots of opportunities." Well that’s just the problem he dries up in front of you especially if there’s friends of yours around. Hayley sat and thought for a moment she really did like Mike he was a little strange at times but funny. "This isn’t going to work if he can’t talk to me Stu?" "Well that’s something we are going to have to solve we just can’t have you two missing the opportunity of dating can we?" giggled Stu. Hayley coloured up again, "we have to get the ice broken between you two, are you up" for it? enquired Stu, of course she replied. It was then they noticed the paramedics going by at great speed with lights and sirens blaring. "I wonder where they are off to" said Hayley.
