(Rachels' POV)
It has been 4 years and nothing has changed. The kids at school still taunt me with their vicious words and I still can't do anything about it.
I arrived at school this morning and within 10 minutes someone was already trying to get under my skin. When I parked, a few boys I've known since year 2 made their way over to my car and began to do what they do best, taunt me.
"Hey Rachy. How's the killer?!" said Kyle, leaning on my trunk.
He had dirty blonde hair and always wore these big black boots. He was the biggest one and always the first one to talk.
"I bet he's someones toy in that Prison cell." Jay said surprising me as he stood behind Kyle.
I haven't heard that one before. That was a new one. Jay was a little less bigger than Kyle but just as intimidating.
"Want a drink Rachy? You can be just like your father." said Tyler as he raised his hand to high five Kyle.
Tyler was scrony and often stood behind the two bigger boys.
"Guys this is beyond inappropriate. Get off of my car." I say trying my hardest to hide any hint of emotion.
Kyle let out a little laugh and began to walk away as the other boys followed.
I try my best to never let those boys, or anyone really, get to me.
I walked to my first period class and took my seat. I always enjoyed being a little bit earlier than the other students, to prepare my books and organize questions I might have for my teachers. It's just an old habit of mine. My ex bestfriend, Hailey, used to meet me every morning to do the same. We'd organize our binders the same way and discuss the day befores homework.
When it got closer to the bell, the seats started to fill up. Everyone was seated in their normal spots, socializing with their partners next to them. While I sat alone, like I do in every class.
At first, it really bugged me but now I'm used to it.
Right before the bell rang Mr. Murphy walked in to class. He sat his briefcase down and turned towards the smartboard behind him, facing us.
"Goodmorning class!" he says, picking up a pen from the smartboard as the bell rings.
He begins to write a question on the board in very big writing.
It read " Why do we need each other?".
When he finished, he turned around to face us, with a big smile on his face.
"Who can read this to me?" he asks.
No one actually raises their hand but he doesn't hesitate to pick one of us.
"Ms. Rachel Greene. Would you do the honors?" he says.
"Why do we need each other?" I read, with a very nervous edge to my voice.
"Why do we need each other?" he says, almost mocking me.
"Yes Ms Greene, so why? Why do us humans need other humans to be there for us?" he says.
I begin to think of an answer that would not connect to my situation but fail miserably.
"Uhm I..I think that..." I start to say but stop as someone knocks very loudly on our classrooms door.
"Oh hhelloo there Mr. Murphy. I'm not sure if you had read your memos or not but I sent one to you about receiving a new student today. " says Mrs. Kalee, our principal.
