*Lucas' Point Of View*

I can't believe it, she....she died. Caleb...Frost...murderer. I drove away from the tall mountain and head home half an hour ago and I'm near home, my heart aches at the thought that I just met a new neighbour and then she died, and it was because I couldn't keep her away from a jackass, Frost.

*Lily's Pont of View*

Caleb pulled up near my new house, he leaned in, smirking, as if he was about to kiss my cheek, but he didn't, he just whispered in my ear, "Lucas thinks you're dead."

"No, he's not stupid," I retorted, just then I saw Lucas' car, he just got home? Where had he been? Why is his face so blue, then he turned around and caught my eye, it was as if he got possessed, he ran towards Caleb's car.

"You bastard!" Lucas opened Caleb's car door and lifted him, Caleb was smirking and had his hands up to his face.

"Hey, it was not my fault you were stupid enough to believe she was dead," Caleb's smirk only grew larger when he finished the sentence, I ran out before Lucas do anything to him.

"Let's go," I pulled Lucas' arm and walked towards my house, to my surprise, he didn't resist.

-

I sat on the swingset bench that was placed outside my house, my mom went out and i had forgotten the keys to the house, so I could only sat there and wait. It's nearly 7pm, my homework was in my laps while I swung on the swing thinking of the answer to the math problem. After Caleb left, Lucas stared at me one last time, before turning away and shut the door of his house. I shook my head and focused on the question, and wait.

-

"Hey, I have been watching you from my window, why are you still out here? It's getting cold, and you're still here," Lucas scared me, but I only jerked, I just realised it was 7.45p.m., where was my mom?

"I'm just waiting for my mom, forgot the keys," I said coldly while removing my bag so he had space to sit.

Lucas brushed his jeans before sitting down beside me, it was cold so I placed my legs on the bench and hugged them tightly.

"Here," Lucas took off his jacket and placed it over me, I still refused to talk to him, "C'mon, what does it take?"

"What does it take to what?" I looked at the other direction, still ignoring his existence.

"What it takes to be your friend," silence, did he wanted to be my friend? All my life I only had one friend, but this is new.

Suddenly, a car pulled up, my mom's car, I took too long to reply.

"Tell me the conditions tomorrow, I really wanna see, what is worth your friendship," he smiled.

"Oh hey, you're the new neighbour?" My mom walked to Lucas and asked, he nodded and she coninued, "Hi, I'm Emiliah, but you can call me Emily," she stretched her hand out to Lucas.

"It's my pleasure to meet you Emily," Lucas smiled widder and shook her hand, "Bye Lily, see you tomorrow?"

I nodded as I packed my bag, getting ready to find warmth and comfort in my safe heaven I call, Home.

-

"I'm just looking out for you sweetheart," my mom has been pursuading me, the past half an hour since I helped her wash the dishes, to give Lucas a chance at being "friends".

"Mom, I don't need friends, I just need space," I begged.

"Well, outer space is more spacious, is that good enough for you?" my mom retorted.

"Mom..."

"I'm kidding hun, but you do need friends to know the neighbourhood better and who knows? A boyfriend that can look out for you," she winked at me this time. I swear, she is not a normal mom, but she is the closest thing I had to a girl friend.

"I'm done, I have homework to do, but please, Lucas is not my type."

"Really? Cause he's blonds and I've seen your room, it's full of blonds," damn, she got me.

"But they're not Lucas," I yelled as I ran into my room.

-

"29 things i wanna do before i die? Geez, I'd never think you wanna die so soon." Lucas read from the piece of paper I gave him.

"Those are my requirements," I said, "just finish everything, down to the last one, doesn't have to be in order, but the least you have to do is complete everything."

Lucas scanned over the list while I reached into my bagpack for his jacket to hand it back to him.

"Everything?" He thought about it for a moment before folding it neatly into a square and stuffed it into the back pocket of his jeans as we walked to his car, he took the jacket from my hands, he was going to drive me again as my mom thought it would be better to know more about the route. I plugged my ear piece in one of my ear as I open the car door and hopped in.

Lucas put his seatbelt on and stick the key in and turn the engine on, "Deal," was all he said before he drove us off to school.
