Loki stood once again on the top of the Stark Building, looking out on the city of New York. Or at least what was left of it. Loki, true to his word, had unleashed his Chitauri on New York and began to tear it apart so he could rule his brother's precious Midgard. Of course, the Avengers had come to stop him and Loki had to admit that they had put up a good fight, but as he had predicted, the Chitauri were too powerful for "The Earth's Mightiest Heroes". The Avengers had fallen and were now being held captive inside the very tower a few of them were willing to call home. It was a perfect picture for Loki. The valiant heroes were being held captive while Loki ruled over the world they tried so desperately to protect.
The screams of the innocents, sounds of crunching metal, the shattering of glass, and blaring sirens had ended about an hour ago, but even now, Loki could still all of those sounds in his head. He closed his eyes and cleared him mind. He was Loki, the god of mischief and a frost giant. He did not feel pity for his enimies. But then again...
Loki softly snorted and turned his back on the desolate streets of New York. He was going soft now, which was highly counter-productive. He was a king now, maybe not of the world that he had always dreamed of, but it was start. Once Loki had conquered all of Midgard, he'd have more power than before, and therefore, he'd be able to start taking over all of the Nine Realms one by one.
This brought a smile to Loki's face. All he'd ever wanted was to rule. Now, he'd have his chance. There would obviously be challenges along the way and many obstacles to overcome, but that was part of the fun. Besides, it'd all be worth in the end; once all of the Realms were conquered, he'd march straight into Asgard and take the throne there, even if he had to pry it away from his "Father's" dead hands.
Loki smirked and folded his hands behind his back. "Let the games begin," he said softly.

Hey guys! What do you all think so far? Sorry if it doesn't make much sense, but I had to give a little bit of insight into this alternate universe. Anyway, our main character will surface in the next chapter and more of her story will be told there. Also, most chapters will be written in the main character's (Lai) perspective unless it is otherwise noted. Anyway, I know this is short, but hey, it's a prologue.
