MEA woke up to the sound of her cats claws scratching on the hard wood. Frustrated by her lack of sleep she rolled over digging deeper under her black polkadoted blankets, in hopes of falling back into the peacful slumber that was just stolen from her. With no such luck she got up.
After putting on her native slippers, she walked down the drafty hall to the bathroom, grabbing Cheeto, the cat on the way. Shutting the door behind her, she set Cheeto down in the sink, her favorite spot in the house. Mea open the linen closet and pulled out the scale. The taunting zeros lined up and she stepped on looking up past the blue walls and to the white ceiling, waiting for the small beep to sound. It echoed in her ears as she looked down. 120. Three pounds since yesterday.
Ever since Mea's mother called her chubs as a small child, she ate less and less. She never admited it, but she had a disorder and it was the kind that ruled her every single day.
After crying a few silent tears in the cold shower, she stepped infront of the full length mirror. Her body stood before her. and she hated ever inch of it.
Her ankles to nobby, just the same as her knees wich stook out awkwardly.
Her thighs were a conundrum; touching at the knee, hallow up untill the top were they touched together.
Her mid section was what she hated the most. Her hip bones pointed out and she liked that, but a section of fat sat just above, seemingly unlucky. She desperatly wanted to cut it all off.
Her arms a few inches to wide around, and her collar bones not quite hallow enough.
Mea's cheeks weren't hallow or pudgy but when she smiled it was horrid. Her teeth were awkward and crooked.
Her eyes, a pale grey, like a winters moon, seemed to hold up to much space on her small face. Two full, pink lips topped it all off. 'I will be skinny.' Mea would promise herself. 'One day...'
Carrying Cheeto back to her room drapper over her shoulder, she woke up her father so he would be able to drop her off at school. Leaving him a coffee she set off to get dressed. Slipping into a pair of black leggings and one of her oversised grey sweaters Mea looked in the mirror. The fabric gathered at to bottom, and hung to her finger tips. She adored how the clothing was to big. It made her feel small.
Dressing her pale eyes she noticed a red dot. It was like the one she'd gotten as a child when the terrors started... Passing it off as an irritated vein, she finished her third coat of mascarra. She had an obsession with her lashes. Never quite long enough, never thick enough. Putting a moave in her lids crease and filling in her brows she was gathered her things and said goodbye to Cheeto.
Pulling out the damp top not of her hair, she shook it out. Parted down the middle, loose mouse brown waves fell just above her waist, gradually getting darker to the tips. It was awfly plain.
It was autumn. Her favorite season. As she stepped out into the brisk morning air, Mea looked up at the fading moon and thought of him. He always talked so whistfuly about things with her. 'I love fall too. Don't tell anyone though.. but I think the sky is absolutly beautiful.' She sighed and kept walking out to the old car.
Starting the Chevel up she shut the door and went to fetch her father and nearly bumped into him. Looking up at his kind face he spoke, "Lets go M." Breif case hung over his shoulder and his signature crooked grin they set off down the gravel rode to her highschool.
Walking into the massive building she passed him sitting at a table on his phone. Didn't even notice her. Continuing to her locker she passed her fellow class mates,, and gave a shy smile. Getting to her locker she turned the dial '9-9-9' Setting her book bag on a hook in the sparse grey space, she grabbed the things she needed and headed off to class alone.
