Chapter 2

Nandini - Mani, dekh tu fir haar gaya. Mene fir se top kiya hai.

Manik was looking at him with a fake sad face. They always have a bet just a day before the examination of who will top the class.
Its been a kind of ritual from past 10 years. Now Nandini is 15.

Manik - ha ha theek hai. Teko padaya kisne. Mene.... top toh karna hi tha. Varna tu toh fail thi.
Nandini - chup kar gadhe. Nandini Murthy hu mein. Mein kabhi fail nahi hota.

Manik - ha ha... Nandini Murthy nahi tu toh Einstein ho gayi. 'Kabhi fail nahi hoti'.

Nandini - ( laughing ) isliye tune  top nahi kiya. Bewakoof, Einstein school me kayi subject me fail hua hai. Chal baar baar baatein mat badal. Iss baar kya dega mujhe.

Manik - kya chahiye. Bolke toh dekh.

Nandini - tu nahi de sakta.

Manik - aaj tak aisi koi bhi cheez nahi hai jo Manik apni Nandu ke liye na kar saka ho.

Nandini - chod na. Tu nahi laa paayega. Chal jaldi. Kaju maa se bhi gift lena hai. Aur Alu aur Mukku di kaha reh gayi.

Manik - oye baat cutter, bol n kya chahiye. Sab lake dunga.

Nandini - (chukled) hm..chal lake de mujhe voh log jinhe roz raat ko mein good night bolke sotu hu. Mujhe voh photo vaale log chahiye. Jaa leke aa. ( smiling sadly ) saala baat karta hai. Chod tu. Chal. Mujhe Cabeer bhai ko khana dena hai. Kal bhi dukaan khana lekar nahi gaye.

Manik - theek bolti hai tu, mein voh photo wale uncle aunty nahi laa sakta. Par tere liye ek cheez laa sakta hu.

Nandini - kya??

Manik - yeh..

He gave her a silver box and inside the box were a pair of earings.

Manik - kaise lage??

Nandini - bohot sundar hai. Chal n Ghar jaana hai. Kaju maa ko marks dikhane hai.

Manik pulled her closer when she was going.

Manik - aise nahi, abhi toh tujhe picture dikhaana hai. Pata hai nayi picture lag gayi hai. Aur apn ne pehla show miss kar diya. Jaldi chal.

Nandini - kutte ab bata raha hai.

Manik - Nandini.. language.

Nandini - aah... Manik, kutte koi gaali nahi hoti. Kya hua agar ek aadi bol bhi di toh.

Manik - nahi koi kaisi bhi gaali de. Tu nahi degi. Tu baaki bachhon jaisi nahi hai. Tu gaali nahi degi.

Nandini - ji sir. Ab chale. Movie dekhni hai. Par Alu aur Mukku di kaha hai.

Manik - Aliya aur Mukti theatre pe direct milnge. Voh tere aur mere liye kapde lene gayi hai. Ab uniform me toh pura Mumbai nahi ghoomenge n. Aur ha Cabeer aur Dhruv ko unka khana mil chuka hai. Chal ab.

They had fun watching 3 idiots in one of the local theatre with low cost of 50 rs. Per movie. 
All were rolling with the fits of laughters till the end.
After the movie, everyone decided to pick Cabeer and Dhruv from their place of work, i.e. RAJU GARAGE.

Cabeer, Dhruv and Manik both work at the garage from Morning 11 to Evening 6 and then attend the evening school at 7. All 19 years old. And its their last year of school and next will be the college, so they have to save money and study hard if they want to grab the scholership.
Mukti and Aliya work with a tailor beside the garage. They too aim for a nice college and a scholership.
Nandini is in 10th and is an amazing student. Nandini and Manik both study till late night after Manik comes at 1. One hour of study with Manik daily is enough for Nandini to pass any exam.
