Hey Adam could you come over to my house? I gotta talk to you about something. Jacqueline texted.
Yeah, of course, anything for you babe.
Okay. See you soon.
Yeah. I'll be right over. See ya.
A few minutes later, the doorbell was ringing. It was Adam.
"Hey Adam, should we go somewhere else? I don't really want my brother to hear about this."
"Yeah sure. Where?"
"Um, how 'bout in the backyard? Somewhere quiet? Somewhere no one else will find us?"
"A tree house. I have one in my backyard. It's my brother Dean's but now that he's in college, he doesn't use it anymore. My sister and parents don't know about it."
"Come on."
Jacqueline wrote a note for Dylan saying where she was going, how he could contact her if needed to, and that if he was going somewhere, he had to text her.
Jacqueline sneaked into Adam's backyard and into Dean's tree house. After a minute of sitting in silence, Adam broke it.
"So, you said you wanted to talk to me about something."
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Um, Thomas. He, uh, he told me something."
"What? What did he tell you?"
"He told me that you, um, said that Thomas and I can't be friends because we are dating, and that you said mean things to him."
"To Thomas? Why would I ever do that? Crush a friendship that's lasted a lifetime? I would never do such thing." He then took Jacqueline's hand and continued his sentence.
"I'm not that kind of person."
"Well, if you didn't talk about that while I was in the bathroom, then what DID you talk about?"
"School, he was just telling what is to come in college, that is where I'm planning to go after I graduate."
"Oh, well, okay."
They looked at each other intensely. Jacqueline had to look away because she was afraid that he was lying to her.
"Hey. I would never lie to you. You know that."
He did have a point. She turned back to face him with tear-filled eyes.
"That's true."
"Come here."
Adam pulled her into a hug but she pushed away, wiping her tears from her face. She took his hand and put it against her cheek. He took hers and put it against his. They leaned in until their lips touched. Adam pulled Jacqueline closer and she pulled him into her lips. They sat in the tree house kissing for almost an hour until Adam pulled away.
"Hey. There is something I need to tell you."
"What? Is there something wrong?"
"No babe. Everything's fine. But, I just want you to know that it's okay and that everything bad, it's over now."
"What do you mean? It isn't over yet. It hasn't even begun. Well, for you at least."
"What do you mean?"
"I know that you were lying to me. Well, still are and always have."
