Chapter 3: Being a father

"I did a Japanese song by the way." I said to the others."The fans were requesting it so, ready, set and go!"

I took a deep breath when we finished."How was that?" I asked them.

"Great!" Hiroyuki said grinning.

"I'm sure the fans will love it!" Rin who had dark purple hair and blue eyes said.

"You keep taking away all the fangirls!" Ryota who had dark blue hair and brown eyes said pouting. I only nodded and grabbed my bag leaving to go pick up itami from primary school. I had to make her go school as i had my own places to attend to. On my way there, i saw a toy bunny and was going to pass it but thought of my mother. I didn't want to be like her, so i went to the shop and brought it. I arrived at the primary school and saw itami was waiting for me. I handed her the bunny and grabbed her hand heading home. I saw from the corner of my eye that she was enjoying playing with the bunny and smiling. I couldn't help but let my own one slip as well.

"Hey, kei!" Hiroyuki shouted from the other side of the street. My eyebrow twitched and i ignored him. I saw itami look at him like he's crazy and i  hid her from his view. Immediately his arm was casually slung across my shoulder."Who's that?" He asked pointing at itami.

"A child who's mother had died and i adopted illegally." I replied. Hiroyuki only gave me thumbs up.

"Cool! Next time bring me with you!" He said grinning. Itami looked at us like we had issues."What's your name?" He asked itami.

"My name's itami, what's yours?" She asked holding the stuffed bunny in front of her.

"Call me uncle hiro!" Hiroyuki said grinning and ruffling her hair. She nodded and grinned brightly at him. I deadpanned.

"Aren't i suppose to be her dad?" I said. Hiroyuki and itami rubbed their heads with a goofy grin.

"We forgot about you in the moment." They said nervously. I blew my fist and hit them on the head.

"Forget me i'm your best friend hiroyuki and and i'm your father itami!" I said my eyebrow twitching. They held their bumps on their head and cried crocodile tears. 

"Sorry!" They said. I brought up my fist.

"Don't cry on me and stop being an idiot like hiroyuki, itmai!" I shouted. Itami stopped crying but hiroyuki carried on.

"I'm not an idiot!" He whined but then suddenly grinned.

"I got you angry!" He said pointing at me and grinning. He and itami high fived each other. "Hey itami" He said smiling.She looked up at him."You father may look scary but, he's the most loyal person you will ever know!" He said ruffling her hair. "See ya later." He said and headed off. I blushed and grabbed itami's hand giving her a small smile.

"Let's go home together!" I said and she grinned brightly at me. For some reason, i was feeling so many emotions today. Anger, happiness and what next! I unlocked the front door and went inside with itami. She went to the television and turned it on. I made some tuna pasta and gave it to her. I went through the freezer and ate an arm of a human i hunted the other day. I licked my lips and joined her watching television. After she finished her food, i got her plate and did the dishes. After that, i turned off the TV and i helped her with her homework. When we finally finished, i put her in her cat pajamas and took her to bed. As i was about to leave the room, she called for me.

"Papa." She said.

"Yes itami." I said.

"Can i have a bed time story?" She asked me. 

"S-sure." I said. I only know a few stories. I sat on her bed." One day there was a demon that always ate people." At her scared expression, i tried to make it better."He ate them because if he didn't he would die." When i said that, she burst into tears."Don't cry, itami." I said "Just listen, it's a true story." i wiped her tears away and she quieted down."Before he started eating people, everyone always called him a demon and bullied him. One day, met a person who was the complete opposite of him.The light. The light told him, that he was a hero for not fighting the people who called him a demon and bullied him. The light and the demon became friends forever and even formed a band together with some others. The demon hated normal food and because of that, he was forced to eat humans. The light didn't know and  when he found out he-" I stopped when i realized she was asleep. I smiled and left the room turning the light off. I looked at the night sky. "Maybe i won't go hunting today." I said feeling peaceful.

"What are you talking about kei." Shadow hissed.

"I said, i won't go hunting today." I said with equally as much venom. 

"Your getting weak." He spat.

"I was never strong in the first place." I said turning around to him.

"You will regret this and you know what." He said grinning at me."That happy family won't last and they will all fall in the end." He went back inside me and i gritted my teeth.

"I know that" I clenched my hand."I know that yet"I put my hand on my heart"I don't want this feeling to end, this happy feeling." I smiled." I will do everything to protect it."
