Y/n's POV
I walked up a flight of stairs to see a living room and a kitchen with another flight. Aunt Cass kept walking up the next flight of stairs and stood at the top."A-Aunt Cass? Is there something wrong?" I ask.
She took a shaky breath before whispering,
"Hiro...Hiro hasn't taken this very well. He hasn't left his room or eaten anything and I'm starting to worry for him."I rest a hand on her shoulder. "It'll be alright. I'll help him out." I say reassuringly.
She gave me a soft smile before entering his room.
"Hey Hiro."
I heard a bed creaking then a faint "Hey Aunt Cass."
"Someone will be staying with us for a while. She will be sleeping here, ok?" She turns around, meeting Hiro's blank stare. He nods then turns around to face his computer monitors.
"Come in, Y/n. I'll show you your bed." Aunt Cass calls from the room.
I walk in, taking a good glance of where I'll be sleeping in. The room is messy, filled with papers and clothing on the floor. Some metal parts placed here and there. I also find a desk with a few monitors as well as some shelves with robots on them. I look to my right to see a divider, my suitcase right next to it. Inside is a bed with a few shelves in it. It's completely neat, as if no one has touched it. There's a San Fransokyo Ninjas cap on top of the bed as well as a red box beside it.
After the quick glance around the room, what caught my eye the most was Hiro.
His hair was a lot more messier than the mop of hair I first saw. His clothes were really wrinkled, he probably never changed his clothes. He looked at me with a blank emotionless face. His eyes showed pain with a hint of confusion. Probably because I'm here.
I give Hiro a smile. "Hi Hiro."
He snapped out of his thoughts and responded. "Hey."
A few moments of silence.
"Wh-What brings you here?" He asks.
I still struggled to say the same answer I gave to Aunt Cass, but before I could, "Y/n, I'll be heading down. If you need anything please feel free to ask me."
"'Kay. Thanks, Aunt Cass." And after that, Aunt Cass disappeared to the stairs.
I still stood there, staring at the floor. We haven't said anything, just stayed silent for a few minutes.
"Y/n?"
You look up to meet his worried look.
"You can sit you know." He pats a spot on his bed right next to him. I nod my head, making my way to his bed. We sat in silence once again, but it was never awkward or tense. It was calm. Once I got myself together I tell him the answer to his question.
"My parents." He broke his gaze from the computers to you.
"What?" I look down at my lap.
"My parents are... the reason why I'm here." Hiro looked at me still confused.
I bit my lip before I saying "What happened to my parents is similar to your brother. They're...they're gone."
He didn't say anything but he just wrapped his arms around me. I returned the motion giving him a tight hug.
"I'm so sorry, Hiro. I forgot about you, I didn't even ask about how you did at the showcase, I didn't talk to you at to make sure you were ok. I was too busy be-"
Hiro breaks the hug and looks at me straight in the eye.
"Hey, don't blame yourself. I'm sorry too. It's not your fault. I didn't make sure you were ok, I didn't texted you, or called you at all so please don't blame yourself. You're not the only one sufffering. We both lost our only family so we can understand each other. After all, we're friends right?" He gives me a small grin.
I nod a smile back at Hiro. "Of course."
We talked to each other more, feeling better from our depression. I hate to see him like that, even though we saw each other twice, it just didn't fit his personality.
"Hey Hiro?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm going to shower and change into my pjs 'kay? And I expect you to shower too when I leave the bathroom. When's the last time you even showered?" I teased.
"Uhhhh."
"That's what I thought." I chuckled.
I walked to the bathroom, took a nice shower and changed into and old t-shirt and some shorts. I walked to his room to see Hiro staring into space again. I decided to get his attention.
"Hiro!" He jumped a bit, making a small yelp as he gave me a glare.
"Why did you yell?!" I laughed at his reaction.
"Go shower! You stink!" I demanded and threw a towel at his face. He groaned and made his way to the shower.
I went back to my side of the room and grabbed my phone out. I looked through some pictures of my parents and I, when we were together. I smiled as I remember each memory. My eyes start to tear up and I wiped them away. No. No more crying. Be happy for mom and dad. I turned my phone off and looked around my small space. I noticed the small red case.
It looked dusty but it looked so oddly shaped. Curiosity got the best of me and I took a closer look. Hmm... It has wheels, so it could be a suitcase. But why would a suitcase be here? Why is it so small? I mean Hiro and his brother probably created this, being robotics geniuses and all. What's the white spot with the black line? A pocket?
My thoughts were cut off by Hiro walking in. His hair was still dripping but he was dressed, thank god. I didn't want to see him shirtless or anything. I blushed at the thought and shook it away. Hopefully he didn't see that.
I look back to him and gave him a smirk.
"See? Was that so hard?"
He shook his head while having a small grin on his face.
"Whatever Y/n. Aunt Cass prepared dinner so let's head down."
I gave him a nod and head downstairs seeing Aunt Cass preparing the table.
"Hey Aunt Cass! I heard that your making making dinner."
"Yep! They're Hiro's favorite. Hot wings! Hope you can handle spicy food. You're gonna feel this tomorrow."
I laughed and took a seat. Soon Hiro came down and we dug in. It tasted so good but it sure was spicy. My face felt like it was melting. What did she put in these?! I thanked Aunt Cass for the food and helped her clean the dishes even when she protested.
I went up the steps, after doing the small chore, and bid everyone goodnight, dropping myself on the bed. I shut my eyes, feeling the fabric of the bed.
I need to ask Hiro about this red suitcase tomorrow.
