Parent Troubles

It had been a week since Nathaniel had tried to tell me he was a fallen angel. I wasn't sure what to believe. He was invisible to everyone but me and he had this commanding presence that drew me to him no matter what I did. I couldn't stop thinking about him. How his eyes sparkled when he looked down at me. How his feather light touch against my cheek had made me weak at the knees. His firm body against my back as he held me in silence, stopping my would be attackers from knowing where I was. The sound of his hearty laugh.

I shook my head. I shouldn't feel like this, especially about someone I wasn't even entirely sure was real. I sighed and tried to pay attention to my lecturer.

Mondays in university were always dull, it was only the thoughts of Nathaniel that stopped me from dozing off. It was then that someone annoyingly blew in my ear.

"What was that for?" I whispered angrily as I turned to look at the person sitting next to me,"Oh shit!"

"Swearing is unbecoming for a young woman as pretty and intelligent as you," smirked none other than my personal poltergeist, Nathaniel himself. My mouth was open in the shape of an o.

"Close your mouth, its not attractive to have it hanging open like that."

"What are you doing here?" I whispered under my breath, earning stares from the other students around me. I smiled sheepishly and stared hard at my notes, pretending that I had cursed to myself about a mistake I had made.

"Careful loopy luna,  people are starting to stare," He mused, leaning back in his chair and putting his feet up on the desk.

Please just go away.

"Ignoring people when they are speaking to you is terribly rude."

Oh Fuck off.

Nathaniel leaned in close, his hand resting on my knee, "I know how much you don't want me to, as you so kindly put it 'Fuck off'. I know how much I've been on your mind, just like you have been on mine."

I felt my cheeks flush bright red and my skin burned like a bonfire where his hand rested on my body. Then I flushed cold when I realised he was actually reading my thoughts.

Oh god no.

"Oh yes, and yet you don't believe me when I tell you what I am. What has been playing on my mind, however, is what exactly you are." he said curiously, his dark eyes running up and down my body. I felt myself heat as his eyes twinkled with mischief as he observed my body, his fingers lightly tickling the skin of my thigh. I silently cursed myself for choosing to wear denim shorts this morning.

I'm only human, I answered him using my thoughts. It was better than speaking outloud and earning even more stares from my peers.

"Honey there's something about you that certainly isn't human, trust me. If you were human, I couldn't do this."

Without warning he grabbed me around the waist and the room started to spin without an axis. I felt like I was tumbling through space. Colours whirled around me in a vomit inducing blur. It all stopped suddenly and we landed on hard ground. We rolled, his hold on me was firm yet gentle, until we eventually stopped and I was on top of him.

"Well hello there," grinned Nathaniel. He raised his head in an attempt to nuzzle my neck but I scrambled off him and threw up violently, my body heaving as I splattered the ground with my lunch.

"Lovely," he said sarcastically, "When I used to imagine the day I was finally able to touch a woman, I never once thought she would throw up."

"You overestimated your charm," I gasped between heaves. Bagels dont taste so good the second time around. "What did you do to me!"
