Aaron Carpenter

"Honey are you sure you'll be fine?" Mom asked again

"Yes. Its just a fever. Go have fun." I said not wanting to ruin my parents anniversary

"Alright. Well I called the neighbors and Aaron is going to come check up on you."

"What! No. I'm a mess." I exclaimed

"Honey you look fine."

"You're just saying that cause you're my mom. You know I have a crush on him! I can hardly talk around him." I complained

"Honey, it's either him or your father and I cancel. He'll stay the night since your father and I will not be home until tomorrow." Mom said

"Ugh. Fine, him." I said

Mom left to get ready and even though I was sick I had to look somewhat presentable.

I took a shower and put on some clean gray sweatpants. I took out a light pink tank top and put that on. I brushed my hair and put it into a ponytail. I made my bed that I had been in the whole week only occasionally getting out of it. I made sure I looked okay and went down to say bye to mom and dad.

"Have fun!" I called

"We will!" Mom called back

I went back to my room and got my phone. I then went to the couch in he living room and turned the TV on. I really didn't see why mom had to get Aaron over here. We were both 18 and I was responsible.

I flipped through the channels looking for something good to watch. On USA there ws NCIS my favorite show, so I decided to watch that.

I lay down and didn't really pay much attention to the show. My I was hot one minute and cold the next. I was hungry but didn't want to get up.

A few minutes later there was a knock at the door.

"Come in!" I said not bothering to open the door myself

Aaron came into the house and put his shoes by the door.

"Hey Mel! How are you feeling?" He asked

"Hi Aaron! I'm okay." I said

He walked into the kitchen and I heard the microwave go off and the fridge opening. I assumed he was making something for himself and I was tempted to ask him to get something for me, but decided against it.

"Here, I made you some Mac and Cheese and got you a glass of water." He said

This shocked me.

"Um, thanks." I said shyly

"Do you mind if I watch TV with you?" He asked

"No. You're welcome to do whatever you want." I said

"Thanks." He said sitting by my feet

I ate the Mac and Cheese and it was really good.

I put my bowl on the side table and at the commercial Aaron picked up my empty bowl and glass and took it to the sink.

We watched a few more episodes and it was 9 pm. Even though I got up late and didn't do anything except watch TV, I was tired.

"I'm going to bed." I told Aaron

"Okay, sleep well." He said

"Thanks, you too. Oh, by the way, you're sleeping in the guest room. Mom got it all set up for you." I told him

"Thanks." He said

I went up the stairs with him right behind me.

"Um Melissa, can I talk to you real quick?" He asked

"Uh, yeah. Sure." I said awkwardly

"Well every time I try to at this I either stop myself or we get interrupted. I like you. Like more than a friend. It's okay if you don't feel the same way, I just had to tell you." He said

"Aaron, what are you talking about?" I asked shocked

"Damn it. I knew I shouldn't have said anything." He muttered

"No, no! It's not that!" I exclaimed

"Then what is it?" He asked

"I never thought you would like me back. I have liked you for a really long time and I can hardly speak when I'm around you and you like me back! This isn't a joke is it?" I asked in a daze

"I would never joke about liking someone. I really do like you Mel." He said

"Me too." I said barely in a voice above a whisper.

He leaned in to kiss me, and just before our lips touched I pulled away.

"I would really like to kiss you Aaron but I wouldn't want to get you sick." I said nervous to how he would react

He laughed it off. Not a nervous laugh, but a genuine one.

"Goodnight Mel. Sleep tight." He said and opted for hugging me instead.

"Goodnight Aaron." I said hugging him back.

We let go eventually and I went into bed thankful that mom had asked him to come over here. Other than that who knew if he would ever tell me he liked me.

I crawled into bed not bothering to put on pajamas. I fell asleep with a smile on my face.
