I made it to class within seconds of the bell. I plonked my bag beneath my back-row seat and slumped into my chair. my best friend and fellow Mind, Teresa, was already scrawling the date onto her foolscap page. She took her label way too seriously! Her waist-length dreadlocks were knotted up today, into an intricate twirl on her head. I often wondered how a girl as white as her managed to look so cool, without looking like a hippie!
"Top o'the mornin' to ya!" she grinned, as she flung the pen down.
"Hello," I sighed, "And you're not a leprechaun, don't act like one."
"Touchy, touchy!" she replied, still grinning. However, when she saw the look on my face, her smirk disappeared. "What's wrong?"
"Oh nothing, just ahhh.... just realised that we have Spicer first thing every monday for the rest of the year..." I didn't really want to tell her about my suspicions just yet, especially when I had nothing to back them up with. Yet...
Spicer was our algebra teacher. He was 100% human and as a result, didn't understand us. Think Filch in Harry Potter. Only crankier. And more mathematically inclined. He was horrible.
Teresa wrinkled her nose. "Oh yeah... Forgot about that... Ugh."
Spicer seemed to take this 'Ugh' as his cue to enter. As he stalked in, t he entire front row began to cough. you see, he earned his name not because he was ginger(he's blond) or had an inclination to drugs (he was a rower in Oxford), he just liked to bathe and wash his clothes in Old Spice deodorant.
With a bark of "Chapter twenty six, now!" class began.
