Scotty went back to work and I went to the house. I took my boots off and walked into the living room. It was around 6:00.

"Hey Chris, Hi Levi" I said to them with a ghost of a smile on my face.

"Hi" they both said back. Then Chris said "I'm gonna start dinner, would you guys go get Scotty for me?" She asked. Levi and I nodded and went out to go get Scotty. When we got back to the house, Jeff was home. We all ate, then Scotty left, Chris did dishes, and Levi and I got ready for bed, Levi slept in his own room, so I just watched movies by myself. I watched "The Lucky One" then put in "Mockingjay Part 1" and fell asleep halfway through.

A little after midnight, I jerked awake. I was crying and shaking. I had a nightmare, I was back in Minnesota, I was outside my old highschool, walking to my truck and the kids were all calling me names, some kicked me, some punched me, some tried to trip me as I walked tried to walk by, Drew was there, kissing my bestfriend Ashley, right in front of me. It was all so real. I was screaming in pain, begging everyone to stop. Nobody was listening. None of the teachers noticed everyone forming a circle around me so I couldn't escape the torture.

*One week later*

"I'm gonna go run into town and go shoppin', you guys wanna go with?" Chris asked, Levi said yes

"Is there a mall?" I asked

"Yeah, I could have Scotty bring you there if you wanted to go" Chris told me

"Okay, sure" I said.

The three of us walked back to the barn and Chris asked Scotty if he would drive me to the mall. He said sure. Chris and Levi walked to the garage and left in Chris' black chevy pick up while I waited for Scotty to put some stuff away. A couple of minutes later he walked out of the barn and we walked to the driveway then hopped into his blue chevy silverado, which was just like mine, no back seat, but his was cleaner than mine.

"So any reason why you wanna go to the mall?" he asked me as he started the truck

"Not really, just wanted to get out of the house, but not go to a grocery store" I told him. He nodded and pulled out of the driveway. He turned on the radio to a country station and "That's My Kind Of Night" by Luke Bryan came on the radio. I sang along to the radio to every song. Apparently Scotty heard me singing and told me that I was good at singing. I blushed and said " No, I suck at singing"

"No you don't, you're an amazin singer" He told me

"Thanks, nobody's ever told me that" I said quietly, and my face started turning red

"Really?" he asked

"Nobody ever talked to me after 10th grade " I said so quietly, I wasn't even sure if he heard me. I looked out the window at the miles and miles of farmland that we drove past. I had gotten to know Scotty a little better in the past week, but I still hadn't told him what had happened in Minnesota. He always asked question about my old home, but he knew where to stop. I was glad that he didn't make me tell him. I would eventually tell him, but I'm not ready to talk about it with anyone. Plus, I had only known him for a week.

As he learned more and more about me, I learned about him too. I found out that he was trying to save up for college, but he wasn't sure if he was going yet, or even get in. He lived about 2 miles away from Jeff and Chris, has an older brother in the military, and a sister in 9th grade making him a middle child. His mom worked for a small diner in town and his dad worked with Jeff in construction, which is how Scotty got his job at Chris and Jeff's horse ranch.

About half an hour later, we pulled into a parking spot and got out of the truck. Where we were wasn't a normal mall. It was a street of small businesses and diners. Scotty and I walked into a store called "Ben Franklin's". My grandma on my dad's side of the family, used to always tell me stories about the"good 'ol days", this little shop was in most of those stories. It was a small store of artsy/crafty stuff.
