Loving Grayson

Chapter 3

It was currently Friday evening and both Blake and Carmen were sat in my room as they painted their nails. We had gotten close as the days passed by causing us to hang out constantly. It had been almost a week since the Grayson incident and to say the least the tension was real. We all still sat in the same table but there was just many awkward silences and moments where I wished I could just crawl into a hole. But back to the current problem at hand.
Luke had invited all of us to his annual back-to-school party and Blake was trying to convince me to go. It would be safer for me to just stay at home and watch Netflix as I munched on junk food but Blake wasn't having it.
"Emery just come to the party! Besides, you really need to have a bit of fun and what better way to do it then by going to Luke's party?" Blake whined.
"Ya Emery you need to have some fun you deserve it," Carmen said.
I huffed and said,"Fine I'll go but sleepover at my house after the party." They quickly agreed and Blake sprung to her feet.
"YEAY," she squealed and grabbed a big duffel bag and began to unzip it. She pulled out a simple dress and a big makeup bag.
"Ok I picked a dress out for you and then I'll do your makeup while Carmen straightens your hair." She clapped. I stood there, mouth agape as they began to work in action.
She plopped the dress into my hands and then pushed me into the bathroom. The dress was a maroon color that was backless and gave a very cute and casual look which I liked. I slipped on the dress and then walked back into my room. Carmen pushed me into the seat and then they got to work. They finished in ten minutes followed by them getting ready soon after. As they did their makeup and hair I walked towards the mirror and examined myself.
Blake had done a natural makeup look with a simple black wing, mascara, eyebrows, and finished it off with a bit of lip gloss. Carmen had also just straightened my hair causing it to look slick and shiny in the mirror. They had done good.
They soon finished getting ready and they both looked so pretty. We all put on our shoes and then headed out the door. Blake drove us to the party as Carmen gave us directions towards Luke's house. We got there quickly since his house was less then ten minutes away. We stepped out of the car and headed towards the front door. We walked in and saw that the party was already in full swing. Bodies danced towards the beat as they held red solo cups in the their hands. I heard some crashes followed by Luke's voice yelling. We headed towards the sound of his voice and saw that he was yelling at a guy who had broken a vase.
"That was my mothers vase you retard," Luke shouted at the drunk guy who seemed to be wayyyyy out of it.
Carmen walked towards Luke and hugged his waist. He looked down and saw her causing a smile to be plastered on his face. I inwardly awed at their cuteness. Blake and I headed towards the drinks. We both got sprites since I guess we wanted to stay sober tonight. We headed towards the dance floor as the music pumped through my veins. We laughed and danced towards the music.
"I'm going to the bathroom," I shouted over the music. She nodded and kept on dancing as a cute guy began to dance with her. She smiled at him and they continued to dance to the beat.
I squeezed through couples who were heatedly making out which made me want to throw up even more. I finally made it to the second floor and walked towards the door that led to the bathroom. Someone had placed papers on the walls with arrows that led to the bathroom which I'm guessing was Luke.
I really needed to pee since I already had like one Sprite and two lemonades. I ran to the door and it wouldn't open which meant it was occupied causing me to groan. I kept on knocking on the door as I waited impatiently.
Finally after two thousand years the person decided to open the door. To my surprise I met eyes with a pair of hazel ones that were placed on Grayson's face. But I had no time to waste so I pushed past him.
"Move bitch," I shouted as I shoved him out of the way. I caught a glimpse of his clueless
face causing me to laugh.
After I finished peeing and washed my hands I walked out of the bathroom. I came face to face with Grayson still standing there with his hands in his pockets.
"Uhh hi," he said awkwardly as I closed the door behind me and nodded in acknowledgment towards him.
"I'm really sorry for what happened and Emery I just miss you, I miss being your best friend and I just don't want to fight anymore," he said abruptly. I was speechless and I looked at him for a long time trying to find the right words to say.
"Grayson, I want you to know that I left California for a reason," I said softly,"and it had nothing to do with Nicole or whatever reason you had thought up in these past two years. But I left because of you. I left because you had hurt me and I don't think we can ever just be best friends again as much as I would want to. Your so great Grayson but at the moment I think we should just have nothing to do with each other. Ok?"
He looked at me with a pair of eyes that held emotions I couldn't decipher. "Ok?" He asked me in a low voice. "Ok?" He asked again as his voice got louder.
"Do you seriously think that I would be fine with this? That I would just sit here clueless of what you mean. Don't you think I would want to understand why you left and what in the hell I did to hurt you? Emery when you left California you had hurt me too you know that right? I needed you when you weren't there for me. That day when I went to your house and your dad said you had left for Europe to live with your mom, I swear my whole world shattered. So you expect me now, two years later, to just be ok with all this?" He said anger bubbling in his throat. I was at a loss of words from what he had said. I had never intended to hurt him and I guess that I had also equally shattered his heart to. Which shows that we were no good for each other and as long as we were apart we wouldn't be hurt.

"Then I guess we're even."
