Chapter 5

It was 4:45AM, as we drove into the garage, I notice a car parked outside, it wasn't my dads nor my moms so I suspected it was one of my friends car, trying to surprise me.

I open the car door waiting for Nate to come around and help me, Sarah rushed inside to her beloved charger while Nate got the wheelchair and helped me. He pushed me along the pathway - where I could faintly hear some music playing - and into the house where I was supposedly surprised by a few friends including Ryan.

Nate looked at me, "They thought you'd like it but I told them that you hate surprises."

"Me? Hate surprises?" I laughed as I pushed my wheels forward greeting some friends and thanking them for the surprise so early in the morning.

Ryan approached me and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. "Hey, I'm sorry about this." He gestured towards the wheelchair. "It's okay, it's not your fault anyway, Nate was just a bit mad." He smiles and walks towards the snack table, leaving me with my thoughts.

I was so deep in thought that I didn't notice my best friend, Erin Webb, standing beside me, trying to introduce me to her good friend. "Rose? Hello? anyone there?" I quickly regain my focus and move my wheelchair to face her. "Sorry, was just thinking."

"Oh okay, well this is..." She gestures to her left where a short girl with brown hair, green eyes and slightly pale with her face covered in freckles stands.

"Oh, I'm Kayla Leigh, nice to meet you." She smiles at me and puts her hand out expecting me to shake it. I take her hand shaking it and say "I'm Rosela, but you can call me Rose." I smile at her and let go of her hand while she pulls a tall blonde haired boy with a bit of a built body, looking about 19, towards her side. "This is my boyfriend, Luke Hatting."

He smiles at me and gives me a small awkward wave, "Hello, I'm Rose." He nods his head as if to say 'I know', I nod back making Erin and Kayla laugh, Luke and I both look at them with a confused look but then interrupted by Nate, taking me away from the group and into the kitchen.

"Aren't you hungry?" I shake my head and move towards the window, watching the sunrise.

"Oh, well there's leftovers in the fridge if you get hungry." I smile at him and slowly start to turn towards the door leading into the lounge but he stops me.

"I don't think I'll be able to carry you up the stairs so is it okay if you sleep in the spare room downstairs?" I nod but stay quiet, not really wanting to talk to him.

"Okay, well I'll make sure you're all comfortable." I leave the room not caring if he feels hurt, he deserves this a little bit, besides he's my brother, he should be used to it already.

I wheel my way towards Erin and Kayla. "Hey, uhm do you think you could get everyone to leave? I'm kinda tired an wanna sleep."

"Okay Rosey, but can't Kayla and I stay, pweeassee." I look back and forth between them, deciding, "What about Luke?" He magically appears next to Kayla's side, taking her hand in his.

"What about me?" Kayla pushes him away, "Nothing babe, don't worry, we gotta go just now." He makes a frown, "But I thought we were all spending the day here?" I look at Erin with wide eyes and pull her down to my level whispering, "I just met these two and you said they could stay the whole day?!"

She gives me an embarrassed smile and stands back up straight. I let out a long sigh, "I suppose you guys can stay for the day, but only you three," I gesture to the three of them, "Just get everyone else out, please?"

Erin nods and slowly walks towards the group surrounding the snack table and shouts, "OKAY EVERYONE OUT, PARTIES OVER!" I cover my face while goes red as I intended her to ask politely instead of shouting, Everyone awwhs as the music is turned off and the front door is opened. I wheel to the door and apologize as they leave and thank them for coming.

Ryan is the last one but stops at the door and winks at me before leaving. I blush and close the door behind him. "Parties over already?" Sarah shouts from the top of the stairs, with a straightener in her hand.

Erin looks at her and shouts. "IT IS INDEED MAHN." Sarah glares at Erin and goes back in her room, slamming the door behind her. Luke looks at me, "What's her deal?" I shrug, not really caring and wheel myself towards the spare bedroom while Erin, Kayla and Luke follow behind.
